Background checks on AMMO? :o
Database on all ammo buyers...
Those in commiefornia better buy .22 in bulk, tacking on 5 dollars for a background check on a 50rd box would double the price.
Now think about the fact that with the major drought they are in, more and more of the people are moving east spreading the wish for these kinds of laws. I can only hope that these rediculous laws get struck down in court. Then again, the handgun roster is still in play, so I doubt it.
I bet any gun shop near the california border is about to get a solid boost in business. Time for a load of conservatives to get the credentials to become a judge and move into these places tossing these laws out. Thats what the NRA ought to start doing, put together law degree scholarships so they can slowly reverse this kind of crap.
And it's only going to get worse, my friend. Here in Colorado, one liberal ass-clown came up with the bright idea to register
reloading equipment, and some fool in Florida is proposing 'mandatory' anger management classes before any ammo purchases can be made. I like the idea about inserting pro 2A lawyers, judges, etc., into the system to stack the deck in our favor for a change. Before any of that will work though, we have to get over the idea that compromise is somehow a good thing. Compromise isn't doing gun owners in Kalifornia any good, is it. Every time the gun community has 'compromised,'
the end result has been the addition of ever more restrictive laws, laws which affect only the law abiding citizens, not the criminals. Enforce the laws we already have, there are more than enough to do the job. Until the vast majority of gun owners wake up, and realize that 'compromise' means nothing to the gun grabbing left, and that their true goal is control, through the restriction and/or elimination of privately owned firearms, our rights will always be in jeapordy.
Anyone here think someone that is not allowed to carry should buy ammo? I did not think so.
We have lousy people on our side defending us. In NYS the background ammo check was part of the SAFE Act passed by both Democrats and Republicans. However they were never able to get it going and as of now has been abandoned.
If we had smart people on our side. They would say, there is a chip in your drivers license license and in a NYS Pistol Permit. (Combine the permit with a drivers license amendment too) When you buy ammo and or guns, they run it like a credit card and give you the gun or ammo on the spot at no cost.
But alas, we have people banking on the GOP to protect us.
the thing is, these sort of laws just burden the law abiding. There is zero statistical evidence that they actually reduce violence in the society.
So, lets stop talking about how something seems like a good idea, and measure it's merit in actually meeting the litmus for strict scrutiny:
1. The law must address an area of legitimate governmental (societal) interest.
2. The laws scope must be as narrow as possible while achieving the that interest.
While violent crime reduction as a goal meets criteria one, it is actually very rare that violent criminals use ammo they bought. They almost always use what came in the stolen gun they purchased.
So putting BG checks on ammo fails strict scrutiny since it actually doesn't achieve anything. So, we need to fight these laws for that reason in the legislature, and fight to overturn them in the courts when we fail in the legislature.

Exactly!
Just wait, pretty soon they'll be justifying background checks for those of us who roll our own ammo. I'd love to see the 'statistics' that are invented, I mean quoted, when that happens.
Wake up people! The gun grabbers, which is exactly what they are, don't stay up at night worrying about 'losing one more life to senseless gun violence.' If that were true, then they would have their next little 'sit in' in Chicago, murder capital of the country, and a shining example of failed liberal policies and thug politics. In reality, the gun grabbers stay up at night thinking of anything that can be done to make it harder for law abiding citizens to own firearms. If an outright ban on something can't be done, then they make it so expensive/hard to get, that people just give up on owning it.
It's time to take a stand people, before we have nothing left to stand for.
This country is so pathetic.

What's really sad about this, is that the voters had their chance to fight/stop this, time and time again. I know that some gun owners do everything they can to prevent the further erosion of ALL of our rights, not just the 2A, but the sad truth is, for every one proactive gun owner, there are probably a thousand apathetic souls who are content to just sit and watch.
The kind of hypocrisy shown toward the citizens of California by their elected representatives seems to know no bounds.
Truth be told, all of these bastards should be publicly flogged, and then run out of town.
