Hi; I'm new here but have been a handgun enthusiast for about 20 years.
In years past, I've had three 10mm pistols, all Glock 20SFs. Each annoyed me for probably different reasons, and they're long gone. Since then I've settled (quiet happily, I emphasize) on a S&W M&P 40 that I carry in a Tommy's Kickin'-A belly/shoulderbag. A few months ago I AGAIN began to get obsessed with the 10 and finally visited Glockmeister to handle their three model 20s, a Gen3, a Gen3SF, and a Gen4. All felt too big for my mediumish hands, so I forgot about the 10mm cartridge...until yesterday. Bought the Gen4 today, ordered nickled cases, bullets, and another set of dies*. I also have ground some relief into the 20's trigger-guard entrance area, in the bottom-forward of the TG, and on the front of the grip; pics here...http://s89.photobucket.com/user/jeffreybehr/library/Shooting%20stuff/Glock%2020%20Gen4?sort=3&page=1
I've carried Federal HSTs in both my S&W M&P pistols, 180g. in the 40 and 230g. +Ps in the 45, but recently I've been developing a 40-cal. load with the 140g. Barnes all-copper TAC-XP. I've tested expansion in 1-gallon waterjugs for many years, using various layers of cloth (or none) on the first jug. My normal tests have evolved into 2--one using 2 layers of denim and the 2nd adding 4 layers of terrytowels between the denim layers. The HSTs are the most-reliable factory-loaded bullet of the dozens I've tested, and the Barnes TAC-XP is the absolute-best bullet I've tested (in 3 different diameters). My goal for the 40-cal. load is about 1100FPS with the 140g. TAC-XP and with the 10mm, the 155g.TAC-XP at about 1100FPS. I'm virtually there with the 40 and have ordered the bullets and dies for the 10.
We'll see how all this goes, but I do enjoy the 'work', which isn't work at all, of course. (The only problem is that it's currently hotter than the hubs of hell here in Phoenix.)
* I have a Lee turret press and prefer to keep a set of dies mounted in a turret for each cartridge and load.
jeffreybehr, Welcome to the forum and back into the world of 10mm. If I recall you are the 357Sig guy from GT that did the video and photos showing the flash signatures...we chatted before. If there is anything I can help with let me know. Be sure to look at the pull-down sections to see what was found inside; http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo-pull-downs/ (http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo-pull-downs/)
Good luck with your quest, don't be shy about reporting your experiences.

Welcome to the forum.
Welcome, this is a cool place, lot of helpful people here.

Welcome to the forum. Once I had some grip work done to my Glock 29, it felt better in my hands. I haven't been to the range to shoot it yet, but noticed it while dry fire practicing.
I like your 140 grain TAC-XP recipe. :)
Fine choice Jeff, and welcome back to the 10mm club, I carry a 29sf, and hunt and hike with a G40.

TY. I have four 40-cal 140g. TAC-XP loads* to about 1090FPS (4.6" barrel, 10') and will shoot another string soon, maybe tomorrow morn BEFORE it gets to more than 100dF.
Have selected initial 10mm/155g. TAC-XP loads* (based on Hodgdon's loads for the XTP 200g.) to shoot in the G20, but do not yet have all the components.
* all using HS-6 or Universal (and in the 10mm, Accurate 9), all very-low-muzzle-flash powders. See http://s89.photobucket.com/user/jeffreybehr/library/Muzzleflash?sort=3&page=1
...for results of my research. My testing of a limited number of powders found HS-6, Universal, A7, A9, and SR4756 to be low in MF, while 800X, Longshot, and A5 were high in muzzle flash. Here's an artsy-fartsy version of one of my research pics. This has been developed to enhance its artistic properties; it no longer is a 'research' pic.

And here's how good it can be.
