Title: S&W 1066
Post by: 01deuce on May 14 2016 07:40:15 PM MDT
My second 10mm. I wasn't really looking for one of these , but what I feel was a pretty good deal presented itself and  I couldn't resist. Original box, papers and 2 magazines. I ordered a 19lb & 20lb recoil spring to try. I like the 1066 size over the 1006.

That a fine specimen!  Congrats!  8) The thing is there are many who haven't shot them much for one reason or another...

The only thing is that S&W is not making or stocking replacement parts for these fine pistols... ::)

A year or so ago I was able to pick up a left hand mag release for mine. Of course Wolff sells various springs for them as well.

I have a yellow follower magazine for a 1066 that I would part with if someone was interested. I sold my gun awhile back for a tidy sum. My first 10mm but I was never in love with it.

in the photo it looks like a 4-1/4 inch barrel, i did not realize the 1066 came in the short barrel version.

Nice gun, I sold my 1076 and 1006 a couple years ago when parts started getting hard to find and S&W stopped supporting them. That said I did pocket a nice sum.

A couple months ago mine had a broken side plate.  The correct part was not to be found. S&W does not sell them, BUT a call to S&W cs and they sent me a shipping label and off it went and came back with a brand new side plate. Of course since it has a life time warranty there was no charge.

And it is a 1066. 4 1/4 barrel is how all 1066's came.

It is a very nice gun, all the 10xx series were. Probably the guns best suited to the 10mm, it was a shame S&W didn't continue to manufacture them, but the demand wasn't there when the FBI dropped it and it would likely be a $1200 dollar gun now.
