Title: First Witness Range trip
Post by: Chefgerg on April 19 2016 07:13:45 PM MDT
Bought a full sized EAA Poly Witness 10MM  last week. Not sure what to expect as when I was researching the gun all most of the youtube stuff I saw about it was fair reviews consisting of needing to buy an upgrade spring kit for 80.00. Was actually waiting for the thing to blowup in my hand as I was shooting it to be honest. As I am here writing this the gun functioned perfectly with only 1 malfunction caused by user error. I fired 100 rounds 50 of Remington 180 gr  Metal Case and 50 rounds of Armscor 180 gr FMJ.

Love my new gun the malfunction was caused by limp wristing the gun. used to using  my .40 S&W glock 23. Going to plan to buy several more 10mm's, Glock, RIA, maybe a Dan Wesson. Keeping options open.

congrats on your new Witness. they really are great pistols. I recently bought a full size steel frame and love it. I also have noticed that they are sensitive to limp wresting. other than that, very reliable and accurate.

Similar results.

Also, be aware that issues may start to show up as you more to ammo that is more on the 10mm side of the performance envelope.  Slide velocity goes up and the stock springs sometimes don't keep up well.  Clearly the importer is testing these with LGS 10mm ammo, and not the full-power stuff.

what are the correct velocity ammo brands. It would be dumb of me to buy a 10MM and not be shooting the real deals.

There is  a sticky in the factory ammo section with real world test velocities.  Intercooler put most of it together, so it is generally from a witness pistol.  That would be your best bet for a reference.

Chefgerg, Welcome to the forum!  You can look over Intercoolers Spreadsheets and find his results fro most of the ammo the is or was available over the years!  http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo/10mm-factory-ammo-master-sheet/ (http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo/10mm-factory-ammo-master-sheet/)

If you browse the commercial pull-downs you will see just what makes the ammo go and the advertised velocities, most of the ammo was sent by Intercooler.

Thanks for the replies guys lots of good info here. Took my witness to the range again today. Got my upgrade springs yesterday and got them in for today's range work. Replaced the factory spring with a 20# wolff that I got from Henningshop. works great with the factory Sig FMJ ammo also the Armscor FMJ ammo. Very pleased with my Witness.
