Title: Stock III
Post by: 01deuce on April 16 2016 03:21:26 PM MDT
I'm new to this forum and new to 10mm's. I have HK's and 1911's and decided to leave my 1911 shooting to 45acp and try another platform for 10mm.

So even though I couldn't find a lot about the stock III I ordered one from Bud's last week. Picked it up this morning and had a Henning guide rod and Wolff recoil springs waiting. I put in the guide rod and a 20lb spring.
I just got done putting 100 rounds of Sig 180gr fmj & 20 rounds of Buffalo bore 180gr jhp through it. It functioned flawlessly and recoil is nothing compared to what I was expecting. I do hate the front sight though. It's way to wide imo.

I now know it does have a polygonal barrel (which everyone might have already known but I saw some refer to it as conventional rifling)
2.1 lbs listed weight is actually
41oz gun and no mag
44.40oz gun and empty mag
52.90oz gun with 14 rounds in the mag
( just in case I'm not the only one that wanted to know the actual weights) and it launches brass to the next county !

I almost bought a limited, but opted for a stock III  mainly because it seemed a little different and not very common. I don't think it will be my last 10mm

01deuce, Welcome to the forum and the illustrious world of 10mm Firearms and Ammo!  Congrats on your procurement of the Stock III, the EAA Tanfoglio are great firearms for the 10mm platform.  That heavy rail will also help to slow muzzle rise with recoil.

Best regards and hope you enjoy the forum!
:D

Congratulations!

Put a Henning narrow width fiber front. That full length dust cover with rail will make it an even better frame than a Match.

I like the look of that Stock III. If it shoots as nice as it looks, you'll have all the bullets in one ragged hole.

01deuce, very nice gun!

At the moment I am in search of a new gun with 6" barrel. Tanfoglio could be an option.
Just for comparison, could you please make a foto of a round in the barrel to see the chamber support?

Thanks!

welcome to the forum. I too am new here and to the 10mm. I recently bought a Witness full size steel 10mm. I love it! I'm sure you will really like your Stock III.

01deuce, thanks for the picture

Is there a big chamfer between the feeding ramp and the chamber, where the cartridge case is not supported?

Bambam the EAA has great chamber support for the 10mm guns

I have two EAA 10mm's.  They have the best chamber support of any 10mm I have seen.  Some aftermarket barrels equal them, but nothing I have seen is better.

I now have it set up how I want it for a carry gun.

Installed standard non-extended ambi- safety.
FO front sight
Henning grips
Hybrid leather/kydex IWB holster

I started using Underwood 165gr bonded gold dot. It has been very accurate for me.

I know you said you shot some Buffalo Bore out of it so obviously with your wolf and your new Springs and guide rod it'll shoot the heavy stuff... Will it shoot the light crappy stuff like the FBI FBI light load or Armscor or any of the factory stuff? I'm seriously looking at this gun as my next 10 millimeter and the pictures you showed are absolutely beautiful!Should make one hell of a companion for my Glock M40.... ::)

I have shot the Buffalo bore 180gr  HP, Sig 180gr fmj , Underwood 165 gr HP & 165gr fmj. The Sig would be the weakest of what I have shot, but it is definitely not a light load compared to some others.  I assume it would be just fine with the lighter stuff. I will say it is very pleasant to shoot with the heavy loads.

I'm reading and watching everything about these...Drooling over your pictures is just beautiful...For the same money I could get the new Sig but this has so much more I think then the sick bring to the table.

Since I carry this iwb and intend to do the same with the limited. I decided to slim it down some to make it more carry friendly.
I slimmed down the ambi safety, installed a shorter standard mag release and  re - profiled the rear sight some.
I also did the sight on the limited and will be sending a standard mag release and re profiled ambi safety off to be hard chromed.

Thanks to Intercooler for educating me on how to remove a Witness mag release.

Thanks! Just bought a dremel yesterday, so it was my first go at something like this.

I have used Metaloy for a complete gun and for small parts before and have been very pleased. Chris has been a great guy to deal with and I plan to send these parts to him as well.

I used Cogan for my Hunter and the finish exceeded factory greatly! Excellent work by that outfit!

Really really nice. What IWB holster did you use? I don't recognize the brand.

It's a company called Harvey's Holsters. They go to gun shows in Indiana and can make one for whatever you bring them. I had no luck finding anyone who has a mold to make one.

As I stated about the new limited I bought, it doesn't have the LPA rear sight like on my stock III. In my opinion the LPA is a better sight then on my new limited.

Can you take a picture of the new sight? That's interesting! I'm hoping Henning will finish up his rear adjustable sight and end all the madness.

Obviously I rounded the corners on it.
It has a taller blade that angles backwards. The blade also looks thinner and it is only partially serrated. It doesn't come with the little tool that the LPA does and that tool doesn't fit the slots very good on this sight. the LPA just seems a little better built and I think it sits a little lower.

It also says limited custom on it  now instead of just limited.

Hmmm... Two of the reasons the Super Sights fail are due to a short blade (have to jack up the elevation) and the elevation screw moving also due to this. The teeth on it are very short and it doesn't have the notches around the screw to hold position like some of the new ones (Dawson). Eventually wear of the elevation screw pocket areas render it useless!

Wanting to bump this thread up as I'm getting ready to jump on a Stock-III 10mm for myself...

With 2+ years of owning/usage, do you (or anyone else) have anymore thoughts, issues, complaints, things you've changed, want to change, etc. about your Stock-III 10mm?

Any more advice on required upgrades to make the gun run 100% reliable over the stock configuration? Guide rod, extended firing pin, recoil spring, etc...

TIA,

K.
