Rdub, Alliant 38 spl P+ data I show for Power Pistol shows 125 JSP COAL 1.445" tested 5.6" BBL (1.5 " longer than your tested)
Powder Pistol 6.3 grains @ 1,165 fps 17,200 PSI
From the picture shown, it's hard to tell, but I don't see the off color white or rust color kernels in the powder that BE-86 normally shows. Did that powder show any off color kernels? Alliant does show BE-86 6.1 grains @ 1065 fps from a 6" BBL.
Alliant 2006 data keep in mind these are test barrel results...

The kernels are all the same color actually.
I have that Alliant pamphlet also.. Interestingly, Alliant has upped the charge of Power Pistol in this load to 6.8grs.

I wonder what would happen if these 'test barrels' were installed on real guns.. LOL.
These are easy to test as both powders are available and even using a cast bullet as the test it should be very close to what you are seeing in the factory performance!
