Title: New RIA 10mm 1911 FS
Post by: Critch on March 30 2016 07:27:31 PM MDT
I picked up my new pistol today,,it's very nice, however, they only come with one magazine, sort of cheap on Armscor's part if you ask me,,,,however, I would like at least 2 more mags, are the MecGars good quality magazines?

I could not figure out how to order mags on Armscor's website, or if you can.

It's a different website. Google RIA parts

RIA mags can be bought at Advanced Tactical.
Also I've had good results with Kimber, Tripp Cobra X-Power, and Chip McCormick mags... not so much with Wilson mags...

BTW... it's customary to post pics of new guns... :)

Well I paid north of $1100 for my Kimber and It came with just 1 magazine also :'( I think that is really being cheap!!
And I just called Kimber today and get a up date on the progress of my pistol "They said that about 3 more weeks "  I should tell them to throw in a extra mag for all the ammo I burned up and all the head aches.
Maybe I will the next time I'm on the phone with them.

I have the same ria 1911. Mine only came with one mag and Advanced Tactical had them in stock for about $37 a piece. Mine has the factory springs in it but I am going to have to upgrade the recoil spring soon because of firing pin drag when I shoot the HPR 180 grn xtps. According to Armscor it has a #20 recoil spring and a #25 main spring in it. Just a fyi incase you run into the same thing.

A recoil spring upgrade/change will do nothing to reduce FP drag. Perhaps a FP spring, and a polish job of the channel, FP and pin orifice. Also check that the FP isn't bent.

The fp wasn't bent but I did a complete breakdown on the pistol last night. I hada small copper flake in the back of the channel that I believe was slowing down the return and causing the pin to drag. It's all clean now but I am gonna polish everything to be sure.

Mec Gar 1911 Colt Delta Elite magazines I have 6 of them and they have ran flawlessly. They are more or less old style GI mags only the coating on them is not blueing and nothing sticks to it. $17 each from MidwayUSA. I have the RIA Rock Ultra FS 10mm also.

I haven't used mecgar in my 1911 but it has been perfect in my Ruger, Beretta, witness. One of the best magazine makers in the world in my opinion.
