Title: Some ammo tests I did about a week ago
Post by: Intercooler on October 20 2012 12:02:58 AM MDT
I probably need to do more DoubleTap and Buffalo Bore and Mr.Redbull is getting some... I'm buying the remainder from him to do a follow-up with. We match up pretty good with 10's but my XD gives higher numbers than the Glock.

10mm Corbon 180gr BCSP 1300 FPS (Match 4.75") 1202, 1188, 1192. Average = 1194 FPS/ 569.68 LBS. Told them twice about these low results and Mr.Redbull experienced the same. Guess they don't care!
10mm Corbon 135gr JHP 1400 FPS (Match 4.75") 1444, 1426, 1463, 1476, 1472. Average = 1456.2 FPS/ 635.52 LBS

.357 Magnum Buffalo Bore 158gr JHP 1475 FPS (GP-100 4") 1409, 1445, 1403, 1450, 1394. Average = 1420.4 FPS/ 707.67 LBS. First 700 LB load out of my GP-100 and it was a sonic blast!
.357 Magnum DoubleTap 158gr JHP 1400 FPS (GP-100 4") 1420, 1425, 1420, 1446. Average = 1427.75 FPS/ 715.01 LBS. Wowser... strongest ever and if I didn't shoot it and see it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it!!!

9mm DoubleTap 115gr +P JHP 1395 FPS (XD 4") 1362, 1359, 1350, 1393, 1384. Average = 1369.6 FPS/ 478.89 LBS
9mm DoubleTap 124gr +P JHP 1295 FPS (XD 4") 1291, 1320, 1335, 1317, 1314. Average = 1315.4 FPS/ 476.31 LBS
9mm Buffalo Bore 115gr +P JHP 1300 FPS (XD 4") 1326, 1342, 1333, 1333. Average = 1333.5 FPS/ 453.98 LBS
9mm Buffalo Bore 115gr +P+ JHP 1400 FPS (XD 4") 1421, 1398, 1395, 1420. Average = 1408.5 FPS/ 506.48 LBS
9mm Buffalo Bore 124gr +P 1225 FPS (XD 4") 1258, 1281, 1264, 1251, 1278. Average = 1266.4 FPS/ 441.48 LBS
9mm Buffalo Bore 124gr +P+ 1300 FPS (XD 4") 1332, 1316, 1373, 1358. Average = 1344.75 FPS/ 497.80 LBS
9mm Buffalo Bore 147 +P+ 1175 FPS (XD 4") 1192, 1161, 1210. Average = 1187.66 FPS/ 460.31 LBS

Interesting regarding the 10mm Corbon 180gr BCSP stated to hit 1300 FPS.  That they actually list a test barrel length of 4.6", which is shorter by a tad than your barrel, and obviously correlates directly to a G20.  And it's not like the velocity was all over the place like Double Tap 10mm usually is, but rather ranged minimally, averaging 1194fps, an honest 100fps off the mark.

When a Company doesn't care what it's users are saying, let them know with your wallet. It is an interesting hunting round that would be neat to test in gel to see just how far it travels and results. I doubt tnoutdoors9 even wanting to do it but if a couple of the other gel guys get a 10mm I will send them a few. Other than this bullet type from them nothing in their lineup is really much different than you can get elsewhere for less.

Thanks for the test report, IC. Noticed you didn't shoot any of the 10mm through your Smith. You been shooting it much?

i shoot the 1006 a good bit but have a small issue to resolve. It shoots a little low and right. I ordered an LPA black fully adjustable rear sight from Midway two days ago. Dawson Precision will be putting me together a custom front fiber-optic sight after I zero they setup. I will post some pictures when I get it done.
