Title: Springfield's new 1911 10mm's
Post by: Intercooler on March 20 2016 04:25:01 PM MDT
Has anyone posted about these yet? The Bobtail with porting looks good... $4000 MSRP doesn't look so hot though!

Springfield custom shop has long offered 10 mm. There just happen to be two options.

No matter how much of a nut I might be for a certain pistol... I could never pay near 4k for it!

Seems like Springfield is the one with the pipe to me

Again, this is not a catalog item.  This is an example of options that can be ordered from the custom shop.

$4K is not un-heard of for a high end fully custom 1911.  A Nighthawk Dominator or Nighthawk Heinie long slide will reach this price as well.

When I first read this, I thought you were talking about the Lipesy's exclusive coming out later this year.

Ya 4K is too much for a single gun to me.  :o

Its not that its 4K, but what do really get that is much better than a 2K Dan Wesson?

The range I use in a wealthy NYC suburb is loaded with guys shooting Wilsons and other high end guns. They are drawn to the 10 and I let them have a few shots and I shoot theirs.

I don't see a Wilson or this Springfield being worth 2K more than a DW and I wish it was not so. I would spend 4K if it was worth it.

Yeah.  Don't take my defense of the price wrong.  I wouldn't pay this for a1911.  I am just saying the market apparently will support that price.

Lets face it, a guy with a RI that knows how to shoot, will outshoot the guy with the Wilson that does not know how to shoot.

With things being equal, what are the margins? A inch or 2? Unless you are a competitive shooter it's not worth it.

Linsey's, the distributor, who offered us the Sig 220 in 10MM, is going to offer a run of Springfield Operators in 10MM out of the Custom Shop. Think price is around $1700???
