Let's see a show of hands from those thinking the Iran nuclear deal done by our ass-clown president is still a good idea?
Pat
The deal stinks as the POTUS is a traitor to the American People and is setting us up for Islamic takeover. The Iranians will attack Israel without a doubt and without provocations... SAD! :(
Obama bragging rights for the win!
Why do you think Obama uses the term ISIL and not ISIS?
Yeah so what, we put markings on our arms all the time. My favorite Kilroy was here.
Now onto Iran, we have 2 options, one what Obama did and two war on orders from Israel.
I choose option Obama on this.

That simple? I wish. We did NOT have to do what Obama did and you know it.
Obama did whats best for the United States, let Israel bomb them if they want. I am tired of Americans dying for doing Israels dirty work.
Israel has been crying that Iran was going to get the bomb in 6 months every year since 1996.
And why is it a problem now? The GOP in 2002 called Iran out and did what? NOTHING.
Lets not even talk about Operation Ajax led by the GOP, look it up if you want to debate further.

Bullshit. It isn't the same.
WE do not put those type markings on our arms. Soldiers, airmen and sailors may do that, on a personal level (and we did, without a doubt). Our government does NO such thing as a policy. That would be wrong. Publicly pronouncing genocide by a sovereign country government is wrong.
ISIS/ISIL, whatever, is a theological warring faction of no government or country, which is also completely different, and is completely irrelevant to this discussion.

So, basically you just pulled that false dichotomy out of your ass?
Pablo is 100% correct, Israel never said that Iran was going to get a bomb in the 1990's.
The GOP never called Iran out in 2002.
Operation Ajax never happened.
Now lets review the facts:
1. Netanyahu has said much of this before. Almost two decades ago, in 1996, Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress where he darkly warned, "If Iran were to acquire nuclear weapons, this could presage catastrophic consequences, not only for my country, and not only for the Middle East, but for all mankind," adding that, "the deadline for attaining this goal is getting extremely close."
Almost 20 years later that deadline has apparently still not passed, but Netanyahu is still making dire predictions about an imminent Iranian nuclear weapon. Four years before that Congressional speech, in 1992, then-parliamentarian Netanyahu advised the Israeli Knesset that Iran was "three to five years" away from reaching nuclear weapons capability, and that this threat had to be "uprooted by an international front headed by the U.S."
In his 1995 book, "Fighting Terrorism," Netanyahu once again asserted that Iran would have a nuclear weapon in "three to five years," apparently forgetting about the expiration of his old deadline.
https://theintercept.com/2015/03/02/brief-history-netanyahu-crying-wolf-iranian-nuclear-bomb/
2.Nearly five years after President Bush introduced the concept of an "axis of evil" comprising Iraq, Iran and North Korea, the administration has reached a crisis point with each nation: North Korea has claimed it conducted its first nuclear test, Iran refuses to halt its uranium-enrichment program, and Iraq appears to be tipping into a civil war 3 1/2 years after the U.S.-led invasion.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/09/AR2006100901130.html
3.Operation Ajax, Iran in the 1950's was a democrat society where women wore short skirts and makeup. The elected leader was moved out by the GOP because he wanted to socialize the oil for his people. The GOP put in the Shah. This caused the radicals to move into mosques which are sanctuaries.
This lead to modern day radical Islam, thanks GOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about we talk about how Reagan illegally supplied Iraq WMDs that killed millions?
Yet Pablo wonders why the Iranians cannot stand us.
Now Pablo, disprove anything I posted, I double dog dare you.
So you still can't actually defend the false dichotomy that YOU brought up?
And all this GOP stuff. Eisenhower did a bunch of stupid shit. Carter did a bunch of stupid shit. Obama does a bunch of stupid shit. Why the hell do you keep puking up the GOP? Smokescreen.
NONE of this proves we are forced to have weak ass negotiations with Iran, and give them billions of dollars OR be a puppet to Israel.

They think that they need the Jew to have Israel to protect it until Gods return. Never mind that the Muslims ran the place for centuries.

Before you so quickly write off "stupid Israel" as nothing more than a joke, remember that you probably wouldn't exist if it were not for Israel. Yea you Wolfie. It's so easy to blame those darn Jews. Perhaps you should start a boycott of all things Israel?
A Jewish Boycott? Well now, what do you think of these facts?
A short time ago, Iran's Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the Muslim World to boycott anything and everything that originates with the Jewish people. In response, Meyer M. Treinkman, a pharmacist, out of the kindness of his heart, offered to assist them in their boycott as follows:
"Any Muslim who has Syphilis must not be cured by Salvarsan discovered by a Jew, Dr. Ehrlich. He should not even try to find out whether he has Syphilis, because the Wasserman Test is the discovery of a Jew. If a Muslim suspects that he has Gonorrhea, he must not seek diagnosis, because he will be using the method of a Jew named Neissner..
"A Muslim who has heart disease must not use Digitalis, a discovery by a Jew, Ludwig Traube.
Should he suffer with a toothache, he must not use Novocaine, a discovery of the Jews, Widal and Weil.
If a Muslim has Diabetes, he must not use Insulin, the result of research by Minkowsky, a Jew. If one has a headache, he must shun Pyramidon and Antypyrin, due to the Jews, Spiro and Ellege.
Muslims with convulsions must put up with them because it was a Jew, Oscar Leibreich, who proposed the use of Chloral Hydrate.
Arabs must do likewise with their psychic ailments because Freud, father of psychoanalysis, was a Jew.
Should a Muslim child get Diphtheria, he must refrain from the "Schick" reaction which was invented by the Jew, Bella Schick.
"Muslims should be ready to die in great numbers and must not permit treatment of ear and brain damage, work of Jewish Nobel Prize winner, Robert Baram.
They should continue to die or remain crippled by Infantile Paralysis because the discoverer of the anti-polio vaccine is a Jew, Jonas Salk.
"Muslims must refuse to use Streptomycin and continue to die of Tuberculosis because a Jew, Zalman Waxman, invented the wonder drug against this killing disease.
Muslim doctors must discard all discoveries and improvements by dermatologist Judas Sehn Benedict, or the lung specialist, Frawnkel, and of many other world renowned Jewish scientists and medical experts.
"In short, good and loyal Muslims properly and fittingly should remain afflicted with Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Heart Disease, Headaches, Typhus, Diabetes, Mental Disorders, Polio Convulsions and Tuberculosis and be proud to obey the Islamic boycott.."
Oh, and by the way, don't call for a doctor on your cell phone because the cell phone was invented in Israel by a Jewish engineer.
Meanwhile I ask, what medical contributions to the world have the Muslims made?"

The Jews are NOT promoting brainwashing children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non-Muslims.
The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics, or blow themselves up in German restaurants.
There is NOT one single Jew who has destroyed a church.
There is NOT a single Jew who protests by killing people. The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.
Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.
Muslims must ask 'what can they do for humankind' before they demand that humankind respects them.
Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbors, even if you believe there is more
culpability on Israel 's part, the following two sentences really say it all:
"If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence."
"If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel."
Benjamin Netanyahu: General Eisenhower warned us. It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead. He did this because he said in words to this effect: 'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened'
Recently, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet. However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.
It is now more than 65 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. Now, more than ever, with Iran, among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

I think Wolfie's post was mis-understood.
Those aren't his opinions. That is a reasonably accurate portrayal of how non-religious people perceive the religious republican right wing zealot. I know where I live lots of people think of the jewish as one of god's chosen people, that they are defending the holy land, and that at the end of days they will recognize and accept Jesus as their savior.
The only thing I see inaccurate in wolfies post is the chopping off heads part. Everyone knows the christian god burns people eternally in a pit of fire and brimstone.

Quick question, which country attacked the US and killed military personnel, Israel or Iran?
First, that comment was tongue in cheek play on Stephen Colbert's comments about christianity versus mormonism.
But, since you have chosen to frame it the way you have, lets be clear... The doctrine of original sin, one of the tenants of christianity, says that we were born already having played with fire. Apparently the omnipotence and charity of god does not extend to creating new people without sin.
So, since god created the being with sin, or allowed us to begin our existence so stained through no choice of our own, yes, god is burning the children.
Hey, don't get me wrong. I am a religious man, but no religion stands up to true rational scrutiny. I choose to believe, not because of the compelling logic of my religion, but because I believe it can be a vehicle to amplify the good I can do. And if that happens to please some higher power great.
Jews and The Rapture- Why they want so desperately to convert us.
Posted on December 5, 2011
You know that there is a huge Christian evangelical movement to convert Jews to Christianity. They call it Messianic Judaism and tell the lie that you can believe that Yehoshua (Jesus) is your messiah and still be a practicing Jew. I'm not going to go into why that is a lie in this blog. I'm going to try to answer the question of why they have a mandate to have Jews accept Jesus as their savior.
The goal of messianic "Judaism" and similar groups is to blur the line between Judaism and Christianity, to make Christianity more palatable to Jews. Some evangelical Christian's believe that for the return of Christ to occur, a certain amount of Jews must accept Jesus. The count varies but 144,000; 12,000 for each of the 12 tribes is a popular number. Most messianic "Jewish" congregations and organizations are intertwined with the evangelicals, who start and fund these congregations. Most of the members of messianic "Jewish" congregations are practicing evangelical Christians.
If you have never heard of the Rapture you are about to. The concept was popularized in the 17th century by Increase Mather and his son Cotton Mather. They said that those who believed would be caught up in the air. When all these good Chistians were miraculously transported to (presumably) heaven, those left on earth would be judged and this would be followed by the millenium.
Today there are variations on the theme but the basics remain the same. The big difference is the Jewish factor. When the UN voted to give the Jewish people their own nation in 1948, some evangelicals saw this as a sign of prophesy in the Christian bible coming to fruition. I don't know how they interpreted the bible and there are many different interpretations but this is a compendium of what they believe.
When 144,000 Jews have been converted to accept Jesus, the Rapture will occur sending all true Christians immediately to heaven and the arms of Jesus. (The first reason they need to convert us.) Left behind will be everyone else. During the next thousand years, the anti-Christ will walk the earth trying to turn people away from Jesus. At the same time, the 144,000 converted Jews will walk the earth trying to get people to accept Jesus. (Now you know the second reason they need to convert us.) At the end of a thousand years, the Second Coming will occur and Jesus will return to earth, ruling from Jerusalem. At that time all those who accepted Jesus will live on earth in peace; The rest of us-well sorry dear reader but we're going to hell and burn in the fires of eternal damnation. Oh, and I thought the Christians were doing this out of their love for the Jews.
Well the truth is out. Evangelical Christians want Israel for Jesus and his followers while they live it up somewhere up above. The fact that Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and all the other faiths that don't accept their belief system will be burning below, doesn't seem to bother them one bit. So please-don't tell me that evangelical Christians are raising millions upon millions of dollars for Israel to help the Jews. Their motives are clear if you just open your eyes and mind to see them. Most of their money in Israel goes to form centers run by evangelical Christiansto help Jews accept Yehoshua (Jesus). The leaders in Israel are blinded by the money and look away from the truth of these people. They are not our friends, they are our nemesis.
My husband tells me this piece of history from the Holocaust. Eichmann offered the Allies a trade; 500 Jews for one truck. He was turned down and the thousands that might have been saved, went to their deaths in the camps. My question is this: What is the price of a Jew today?
The Second Coming will occur and Jesus will return to earth, ruling from Jerusalem. At that time all those who accepted Jesus will live on earth in peace; The rest of us-well sorry dear reader but we're going to hell and burn in the fires of eternal damnation. Oh, and I thought the Christians were doing this out of their love for the Jews.
SQ is correct, no beheadings just burning in hell.
This is the reason Ted Cruz and the rest of the GOP want Jerusalem to be Israel's capital. The founding fathers wanted to separate church and state for a reason.
I have personal reasons why this is scary. I now care for my folks. THey live in a 1700 sq ft apartment in my basement. I am glad to provide for them and it has benefits for my family.
But a big part of the reason this had to happen long term is because my dad was sure the second coming would occur long before he retired. So he didn't plan for retirement. At least not until he was in his mid 50's.
This seems to be not uncommon. Religious people as a whole have a hard time perceiving when their decisions are not being drive by rational thought, and instead are driven by personal bias. Myself included.

At the end of a thousand years, the Second Coming will occur and Jesus will return to earth, ruling from Jerusalem.
I've heard of the rapture, and I've heard of the 144k Jews, but this theory you posted is different from any if the scenarios that I have heard people get from the Bible. It's also missing the Tribulation and Battle of Armageddon.
Either way, I don't think this is why 'Christians' try to protect Israel.

If God is the source of evil, then why are you religious?
I'm sure you do not believe in the fall of Lucifer, as such wouldn't be rational. Just what was the serpent in the garden of Eden? It seems that reptile had some skin in the game!

I don't buy into original sin, or into the whole fire and brimstone thing. And the faith to which I belong is aligned with my opinions on the matter.
I am most correctly described as an agnostic Mormon. That is to say I have had no experience of "knowledge " of the existence of God, so I choose to follow the religion of my fathers, in so far as it doesn't contradict observable fact.

I don't buy into anything, because it has already been paid for.
I came into this thread because a God that I consider "loving" is said to be setting folks on fire as some twisted game.
I found that notion offensive, but still each has the right to believe what one decides to believe.
I won't go into what I know and believe, but there was a man that walked the earth that was said to be of God. He did set an example, and he had scorn for the religious leaders of the day. He, instead, hung out with the common and the outcast. There is an example that I fail to measure up to on a daily basis.
I just wanted to say the God that was being portrayed wasn't the God I know.

Sounds just like you Pablo. The message is that Israel and CNN are full of crap.
Thank you for projecting your mental illness onto others. It helps me to understand you better. The fact is Iran doesn't want to wipe Israel off the map it is you and Israel that want to wipe Iran off the map, but you are too weak and cowardice to do it yourself, so you and Israel have to agitate others into doing it for you.
Buckeye 50, I know who said it: It was CNN. I stopped believing in playground gossip and agitation in the first grade. I look at the persons who are telling the story, CNN and Israel, and give them credibility according to what they said in the past. That means whatever CNN and Israel say is worth zero in credibility.

People, I will say keep things civil amongst yourselves'...I have seen so many of the good forums ruined by the mix of Politics and Religion, as it always will ruffle feathers and put panties in a wad...in other words sometimes it is better to leave things go. I have my own reasons why I usually do not involve myself in these discussions...
The Founding Fathers warned us about mixing religion and politics.
But it was the GOP that decided to mix it. Look at Cruz and Rubio, both on the knees for Israel. The GOP/FOX/Rush talk about how God would want this that and this.
Its a joke, they all use God's name in vain. And that includes the Jews and Muslims who do it better than Christians.
btw: Google Founding Fathers and Jews and see what comes up.
I think this belongs in a TFH forum.

Republican religious nutjobs love Israel.
They think that they need the Jew to have Israel to protect it until Gods return. Never mind that the Muslims ran the place for centuries.
Now when God returns, these fools actually believe the Jewish people will convert to Christianity. Or guess what happens to those that do not convert?
God will chop their heads off.
This is what the GOP religious nutjob believes, they think God is white a conservative and a Republican.
You clearly know nothing about Christianity. The nut job meter is pegged.

Sure, that's because Christians are normal people and people are inherently unlike-able, or at least, offensive and easily offended. People hold Christians to a higher standard. There's a lot of crony Christianity as well.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is trumpeting the endorsement of a doomsday preacher who warned Jews must accept Jesus — or face extermination.
His name is Mike Bickle, and he is the founder of the International House of Prayer (yes, IHOP), based in Kansas City, Mo.
Back in 2004, Bickle had this to say about the Jews:
"Let me tell you, these 20 million — less than 20 million Jews worldwide, there's about 5 million in Israel, about another 15 million worldwide, a little bit less than that — those 15 million, God is going to bring them all back. Two-thirds will die in the rage of Satan and in the judgments of God and one-third, every one of the one-third, will be in the land before it's over and they'll be worshipers of Jesus ... The Lord says, 'I'm going to give all 20 million of them the chance. To respond to the fisherman. And I give them grace. And I give them grace ...if they don't respond to grace, I'm going to raise up the hunters ... And the most famous hunter in recent history is a man named Adolf Hitler.'"

Thats right DM, all this religious nonsense never happens. Kinda like how no one speeds when you are on duty.
The latest drive toward an iteration of Sharia Law for the cult of right-wing Christians panting for a theocracy is playing out in Kentucky. A new Kentucky bill, SB 180, titled "An Act Relating to the Protection of Rights," creates a state-wide group of "protected activities" and "protected activity providers" to afford immunity from any federal or state laws. The laws intent is so "protected activity providers" (read Christian) can never be fined or charged with any crime for violating the Constitution, Court rulings, or federal laws. Seriously, this is likely the most expansive "permission to persecute" non-compliance the nation has yet experienced.
The Kentucky bill was created specifically to allow any Christian to refuse providing any kind of service to anyone, at any time, and any place if they simply "identify that person as offensive to their religious beliefs." Now, if any reader thinks this horrid religious law is just about giving evangelicals the power of a state law to deny only gay Kentucky residents their civil and equal rights, they are mistaken. The religious law gives any evangelical racist or bigot the right to refuse services of any kind, including government and lifesaving medical services to "interracial, interfaith, atheistic, Muslim, divorced, or any other kind of person their "religion" disapproves; for evangelicals that is every and anyone who is not a white, heterosexual Christian Republican.
This dirty attempt at using religion to strip constitutionally protected civil and equal rights from non-compliant Americans is legend, and goes far beyond backwaters like Kentucky. In fact, to demonstrate just how twisted these Republican theocrats are, and how much they hate the U.S. Constitution, the Texas Attorney General was effusive over appointing another theocrat as his assistant. Ken Paxton is not impressed with his choice's knowledge of Texas law or the Constitution, but because like Paxton he lacks even a fundamental comprehension of the law of the land or how it protects the civil rights of all Americans.
It is fairly well-known that if Texas' evangelical Attorney General Ken Paxton could unilaterally eliminate the Constitution's Establishment Clause, he would have done it years ago. Last summer to show solidarity with Kim Davis, and demonstrate his stark opposition to the 14th Amendment, preacher Paxton convinced Texas County clerks that it was their religious duty to discriminate against gay couples. He assured the faithful and bigoted clerks that they could violate the Constitution and Supreme Court with impunity and absolute confidence they were above the law. Paxton told the state's religious clerks to violate gay people's Constitutionally-protected civil and equal rights because the state of Texas was prepared deploy "numerous lawyers to assist clerks defending their religious beliefs."
It was no surprise, then, that when it was necessary to appoint a new First Assistant Attorney General, Paxton chose a raging theocrat because he hates gays, opposes the U.S. Constitution and wants an American theocracy. Paxton's choice, Jeff Mateer is a raging homophobe who used to work at a Christian legal organization formerly known as Liberty Institute. Liberty Institute is the evangelical legal defense group crusading to protect and embolden evangelicals pushing for an American theocracy.
To show how out-of-touch with reality and the law of the land he swore to defend and uphold, Mateer demonstrated to college students just how little he knows about the Constitution. He also revealed how intent he is on aiding the religious right to impose an evangelical theocracy on Americans. He told a group of students,
Wow, dude. Give it a rest.
All of this is on the net, takes 5 seconds to look up.

Some speed. Most do not. Believe it or not.
Some who may call themselves "Christian" may believe that. Most do not. By most, I suspect it's a vast majority. I haven't met every person who may call themselves Christian, so I can't say what's in their heart. I can't say what's in the heart of most people I've met. I'm not judgmental nor bigoted, like some appear to be.
I never said "all this religious nonsense never happens". It does, and I know it does. But, to paint an entire class with such a wide brush is hateful, ludicrous and, well, grossly mis/uninformed, bordering idiotic. Idiot, by the way, is a medical condition.
All the original GOP candidates for POTUS are on their knees for Israel, all except Trump.

It's accurate as far as I believe. Its a good reason to discount what Liberals say about religion and what they say about what others believe. They spend more time making sport of the gods of others, while they bow down to government as their god.

Those are broadly defined qualifiers.
Democrat party is anti-gun. You cannot deny this without lying or dancing some stupid ass jig. And don't bring up Republicans to defend your position.
I think Democrats are pro gun control. I have not seen one Democrat that has ever said they are for confiscation.
As for the GOP, their boys in NYS did a great job passing the Safe Act.
If Democrats were smart and really wanted gun control. They would arm minorities in states that allow open carry and do so in malls and near schools.
When that happened in CA, Reagan stopped it....

Geeman, liberals since 1776 have been winning everything in America. What have conservatives won? Put them in power so they can agree to liberal ideas?
Since 1776, those involved in government, the legal system, and the banking institutions have been grabbing more and more power. Its as simple as that. They can never gain enough power, they always need more. The result is effective slavery for those that do not know better. Foremost among those slaves are the people that replace God with government as a source of safety and security.
Safety and security are not real. They are an illusion. They can be taken without warning by anyone with ill intent and enough power to carry it out. Until that is understood, this nanny state will continue to become worse. As the nanny state grows, it becomes more and more probable that the safety and security will be taken by the exact government that promised to secure it.
I believe this because it repeats itself over and over in history. Governments have killed more people than wars.
Keep on wishing for more and more government, and keep on worshiping them. I'll keep on wishing for smaller and smaller government, place my faith in my fellow man, and place God in the place as my maker and master. I'll try my best to not harm my fellow man and not get false gods between my maker and I.
All that new age BS is written by Satanists, not because they believe it, but because they want you to believe it. It make you easier to control.

I agree G, but it's a different argument.
What really bothers me about this thread:
- That we can not disagree without dis-respecting other member's views
Americans should be truly tolerant of other dissenting points of view. Whether I agree with or disagree, I should treat my fellow forum members (all people) with the respect.
Christians would say the respect God created them with. Others would say the respect that they deserve. Either way respect the person, even if you dislike their views.
- The venom expressed
I guess that is what politics & religion tends to bring out. The golden rule of treating people like you would like to be treated applies here.
- Demeaning the other person's intelligence
I have seen all of you guys' posts. I know ALL of you are highly intelligent people. Remember that while we don't all know everything, we all are intelligent and capable of understanding without being "talked down" to.
I hope this is received with grace. I am not trying to take anyone to the wood shed. Lets all take a deep breath and ponder what and how we say it. I am just as guilty in being condescending at times. Maybe I am talking to myself also.
I see what you are saying sstewart.
But I also see something else at the same time. The thread keeps going, and people keep exploring their own and others ideas. Some of the most important revelations about myself have come when I made a strong stand and had it abruptly disassembled by someone else. When that happens to you, one of two things happen, sometime both happen.
1. You dislike being shown you were wrong, and resort to basic defense tactics, like personal attacks.
2. You look inwardly and realize that your opinion, facts, perceptions and life experiences may not have taught you the truth you thought they did, and you adjust into a better person.
If the beginning of wisdom is "why", then the end of hypocrisy is "I may be wrong".
This thread is bothersome because there is a good bit of tension, as well as some racism and bigotry. But at the end of it all, I think that most of these guys could still see themselves at the range together enjoying an afternoon of shooting, followed by steak and beer in someones back yard.
