Title: Thinking about a DW Razorback, New to the 10 mm
Post by: Lastmohecken on January 22 2016 11:10:37 PM MST
I have never owned a 10 mm, but lately I have been looking at a friends DW  Razorback. It's one of the original 1 of 150 in 10 mm  with an adjustable rear sight. I can see there are a lot of Glock fans on here, and I own several Glocks also, but I am really more interested in the 1911 platform for a 10 mm.

Anyway, how does the DW Razorback stack up in the world of 10 mm's? Or even the Delta Elite? I mean I like Colts, but in 10 mm I have always heard that there are better choices, which the Razorback looks like it might be. Now don't get me wrong I am not trying to start a debate of any kind, I just figured you guys would have a pretty good idea as to potential pluses or minuses.

Bottom line, I guess  my question is do you think the original (pre-CZ) Razorback is a solid platform for the 10 mm? Are there any known issues to speak of? I will probably use it for hunting of deer and hogs, coyotes, and probably even carry it sometimes instead of one of my 4 or 5 inch Colt 45's. It won't have  to hold up to an excessive amount of shooting, but it will get used and carried and reliability and accuracy is very important to me. I won't be shooting extremely hot loads in it, but I will be using full power factory hunting loads, or fairly strong handloads.

I own one of the first 150 and it is my prized possession! If you can buy it, go for it! You'll never find a "factory" Colt that can match it. Take care of the piece and you can hunt from now until doomsday. They were all fitted with a match barrel at the factory, so you needn't worry about hitting where you aim. If you want to carry it while you hunt Black Bear, fill 'er up with hot 200 grain FMJ from either Underwood or one of the other "boutique" ammo manufacturers.

Let me know how it works out for you. (I know you'll truly enjoy it)!

Can't go wrong with a DW Razorback. If the 1911 style is what you prefer then the DW will serve you well. While not my favorite, my Razorback has been flawless since day one.

You might find a colt that will match it, but it won't be a factory colt.  Compared to the cost of your razorback, the colt will be hideously expensive, all custom work.
