I am new to 10mm but not new to reloading. I will be using my newly-purchased Glock 40 as a woods/hiking gun and will use Buffalo Bore when I carry it.
I am looking to reload light loads for plinking at the range. I will be 170 gr SWC and 180 gr TCFP coated bullets from Missouri Bullet. I have HS-6 and was thinking about using it as it's listed in Lymans 49th with cast bullets. I'll probably start at 8 grains of HS-6 and take it up from there.
Anything wrong with my game plan?
You should be fine if they cycle you slide reliably. You should be fine out to 9.4 grains.
I am using 180 powder coated bullets and Titegroup with great results. HS-6 should work fine.
For Plinking I use:
180 gr plated from RMR or 180 coated from Bayou Bullets. Both are flat points.
6.0 gr of Power Pistol
Super accurate and my wife and young son can have fun as well.
I've also used this combination for a bowling pin match and it had more than enough force to clear the pins off the table.
8.0 is a good start for 170gr SWC with HS-6. Max would be around 9.6 grains.
I don't like AA #7 for hot, heavy bullet 10mm loads, but it works GREAT for plinking 180gr loads (even middle book) and hot lighter bullet loads
Anyone like/try BE-86 for a decent plinking load? I have the suggested recipe from Alliant but nothing like fellow reloaders sharing what they learned. I'd also like to push a 200gr XTreme plated bullet with very little load data to go with.
I got a 1# jug of AA-No. 5 for really light bullets (135gr) probably will be good for plinking rounds.

No. 5 is nice to work with like No. 7 and No. 9.
8.0 grains of No. 5 under your favorite 180 gr bullet is great for duplicating the "FBI load" plinker. I've also found a mid-9s charge under a 150 Nosler JHP to be an easy shooting rounds about 1200 fps on that one.
