I can't be the only one here who has had a 10mm dream. ;D
Last night I dreamed I was driving along, stopped at drive through, they messed up my order so I went inside. There I met two guys and we started talking about 10mm guns. They needed a ride, so they jumped in the car with me, and we drove off discussing the merits of each 10mm handgun we could think of. Then I woke up.
I think it was the piece of French Apple Pie, and I have one piece left. Not sure if I should eat it so close to bedtime. :))
And you hadn't invited me? Wuddahellizis? Next time invite them for a handloading session. :P
I wonder if someone out there had a dream where they met a guy in a restaurant, started talking about 10mm, and then got in his car for a ride. :D
Once upon a time around 2008, I had dreams of a "
New Standard Vice Model 10mm Bren Ten" from VLTOR as they touted their FORTIS pistol. This went on for some time and then there was the prepaid buy ins back in the early 2010.
QuoteA reply from Robin, stated that we should prepay the gun asap, because there is going to be a limited run of these made and you want to be as high on the list as possible.
The Standard Vice model 10mm was to retail $1199.99...I shot on over to Bass Pro Shop in Denham Springs outside of Baton Rouge to get my money paid and in que for one of these. The money was in place as we anticipated the delivery of the pistols. Anyone who has followed the history of this knows that our dreams were shattered by the fact none were going to be sold...Still to this date, all discussions of manufacture of this pistol have dissolved into the sands of time!
The dream still replays...
So "Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream (bum, bum, bum, bum)",
VLTOR Make her the cutest that I've ever seen.
Please turn on your 10mm Miami Vice beam.
Mister Sandman, bring us,
Please, please, please,
Mister Sandman, bring us a fulfilled, not a shattered dream.

::)
Last night I had a dream that I was carrying an M16 in Vietnam. I was never in Vietnam because I was too young, but I was in the Army, and I did watch a lot of Vietnam movies, so my brain just combined the two.
.
I have gun dreams. Quite often, actually. Sometimes 10mm, but everything else under the sun shows up at one time or another. It doesn't matter what they are or what they look like, though. Glock, Sig, SW, Colt, Uzi, AK, AR, Barret .50, rocket launcher, etc, doesn't matter. They are all Airsoft, with a 50# trigger and a slow motion hammer. Don't need tracers, either. The bullet is easily tracked from the muzzle to the target. And if I'm in a gunfight, count on me being very lightly clothed (read: in my underwear, or even a toga, once), but sometimes with very effective body armor, for what it's worth. Sometimes they are similar to real events in my life, or similar to something I've seen in a movie, TV, news, or heard about. Most of the time, I don't have a clue where the ideas came from.
I have 10mm dreams much like the Shadow. "Miami Vice" dreams. A reincarnation of the Bren Ten would be great! A full 5" model for me, thank you. It isn't just about shooting the way Don Johnson had, it is the 12 round, dead-nuts accurate, full-power 180 and 200 grain hammer of Thor that "turn's my crank"!
Dream on.
I use to dream more, was sick for a bit and since then I don't dream as much or don't remember them if I do dream. Use to have great dreams. :(
The 10mm dream was the first one I remembered in months that I consider a "great dream". Maybe I am getting back to normal. It would be nice, I miss reading too.

It's called the witness match extreme. Ha ha
I have long wondered what, other than nostalgia, the Fortis would bring that the Witness Elite series doesn't. Granted, I could wish for a better customer service experience than EAA provides, but at this point VLTOR is in about the same boat with us 10mm guys.
The Bren Ten has a higher bore axis, is heavier, etc.
sstewart: That isn't funny. I have the Witness standard Wonderfinish model and like it. If I could afford to put the Match model's slide barrel on the exisisting frame, I's do it in a heartbeat. Will it fit?
Yeah. Drop in usually. Mine swap back and forth just fine.
Yeah you usually have to find private party as EAA wants a small fortune for caliber conversions.
Don't want/need caliber conversion, just a longer slide/barrel "upper". Six inches for hunting and sporting purposes would be a convenient exchange.
New slide + new barrel + new RSA = caliber conversion kit even if it is the same caliber as your current gun.
And as sstewart points out, you can almost buy a new Witness for what EAA wants for one. They are asking $600+ for a longslide kit.

Worse, the don't catalog one in 10mm.
Better off to just keep your eyes on gunbroker for a Witness Hunter 10mm. You will find one for $700-$800 gently used with some patience.
Here is one that ended this month:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=527269868
$830 for a complete gun. Seems like a deal compared to a $600 top end.
I agree, the price for these parts is outrageous! It will be a while before I can afford the Witness Hunter Elite. I have no qualms about the longer slide, because it adds to the pistol's controlability. The additional 1.4" inches of slide/barrel would likely make the handgun manageable. the additional velocity and power would be a welcome, harnessing the 10mm's potential. Isn't that why we load and use the cartridge?
I think so.

I don't load, yet, someday, but I do want to harness the 10mm power. :D

I find this too funny, I got on specifically just to PM you and ask if you thought we should start our yearly onslaught of requests to get the annual we got nothing done update from vltor.
Here was their response today...

Vltor Hi Wade- as we have stated numerous times, we never gave any information to any distributors to start taking money for pistols. So we are very sorry to those people who tried to put in preorders. The Bren is still having plenty of resources allocated to it. As we have been very clear that we are having to put other projects in the back burner so we can spend funds for the Bren. Keep in mind we also have to balance our military/law enforcement contracts, civilian sales, as well as what is in our employees best interest as well. We will update any Bren information that we get from management as soon as we have it.
Vltor Happy New Year to you gentlemen as well. Please know that we are still allocating numerous resources away from current projects and towards the Bren project. This was never an easy project but we still are trying to make progress on it. We will have an update from our management as soon as possible.
I keep pestering them...someday maybe! ???
In other words...don't call us, we will call you.
I'm just saying, all that those "allocated resources" actually are is a person on facebook responding to people with hopes and dreams a bren will still appear. They say they have allocated resources, but they have absolutely nothing to show for it.
Maybe vltor and grand power allocated the same resources and that why neither can get their 10mm out the door and onto us shelves. The "resources" don't know what to work on when. :))
Blades - add a little vanilla ice cream to the pre-bed pie and you'll be walking out of the LGS with a new Sig Match Elite 10 mm.
