Title: Sig P220 SOA
Post by: EdMc on December 24 2015 06:59:05 PM MST
These have been covered a few times but thought I'd add my minor contribution. Very impressed with the pistol, easiest pistol I own to field strip. I can see why military and law enforcement groups have used Sigs. With the weight of the pistol recoil is very mild as one would expect. No problems at all with feeding or extraction with range fodder or some of my hand loads. The recoil spring is pretty stout...takes some effort for me to rack the slide, but I am getting old.  :) The spring itself is a twisted pair formed into a coil spring. Different, at least to me. The chamber measured 0.429 tapering to 0.425-6. Somewhat surprised that the barrel slugged at 0.401.

Pretty handgun, as I like wood and steel. Grips fit my hand as well as the 1911s I usually prefer. Other versions not in SA only, if preferred, and the price isn't too much different than a Colt Delta.

Oh yeah,    MERRY CHRISTMAS

Okay, if I can remember how. Forgot to mention the chamber support for the cartridge is exceptional, even the area where the feed ramp blends into the chamber.

One of the Sig and one of the 'family'.

Congrats,  the wife is buying me a Sig 10mm da/sa model next month... can't wait.

As a  side note.... the mags from a 220 45acp fits and works in the 10mm ( many reports ) and I have about 8-8rounders for the 45.

Two of my stainless guns with similar capabilities.

I have had a few guns since about the age of 10 and have done a little hunting. For the last 40 years or so I haven't been involved in firearms except for the occasional quail hunting trip. A couple of years ago I took a concealed carry class and it sparked an interest in the area.

My first big interest was the classic blued revolvers, like a S&W 19 or similar. I wasn't interested in anything stainless steel.

Since then my tastes have changed gradually. As can be seen I have come to terms with stainless, and in fact a big reason I got the Sig P220 was the looks. I just like pretty much everything about the gun except for maybe the adjustable sight.

In the photo the Sig still has soot at the front of the slide from my first shooting session of 100 rounds. It shot quite high for me but very comfortably. I cranked the rear sight down a lot and am happy with point of impact now.

I think it is very graceful and beautiful and flexibly capable.

Welcome to the forum, and those are some great looking guns.  I like the Novak style sight on the revolver.  My google foo tells me that was a factory option on the Ruger Match Champion that I guess I just missed.

Glad to have you here!
