With more folks than ever choosing to hunt with a handgun and the continuing resurgence of the 10mm cartridge, we decided it was time to bring the heat. Our first long-slide 1911, the Bruin was born to hunt. The long slide means a long sight radius and the 6.3? barrel within allows full-power 10mm loads as much time as possible to use their powder charge. Fully adjustable tritium sights ensure when shooting hours arrive, you'll be able to see the sights. Not only that, but we're using a tritium/fiber optic combo front sight to make sure the front glows day or night.

I really like that gun looks well built and I sure to with the extra barrle,length it will be a nice shooting gun as well. Just love the idea of the 10 becoming more popular.

I have five of them also. Kinda six, though the sixth one has never been shot and still needs it barrel fit.

HA! Thats a laugh, I haven't had one in years usually I end up paying 1-5 dollars. But that's what happens when you have no kids, mortgage, or business expenses to write off.

As for Ramjet,
Many people I know will purposely not put the correct number on their W4 usually going for 0 or 1. This way they pay a whole mess in over the year and at tax return time, report all the write offs they get and bam! Some people I know have a $2-3k check come back. Pretty poor way to save money in my eyes, but hey if you have difficulty saving thats one way to do it.

Does it actaully have tritium rear sights? Or just a target blade.
Bruno I looked right at it specifically for that option. But I wandered off looking at the gun and the other 3 that I was choosing from.
I know for certain the front sight had the titanium. I doubt the rear had them, but cannot swear to that.

Same ballpark price , I got the Perfect 10 , it holds 17 rds but has the Polymer 2011 lower . If you prefer an all steel make then it's the DW

TLDR:
This is my first 1911 and also my first 10mm. It is 2 pounds 12 ounces with an empty mag. To compare, a Glock 19 with 14 rounds of 124gr and a Surefire X300 is 2 pounds 2 ounces.
How's the fit and finish? It's exactly what I expected a Dan Wesson to be, better than Springfield, but not a fully custom gun.
How's it shoot? It is very accurate. With the included adjustable sights and long sight radius, more accurate than I can shoot it.
Is it reliable? I've only shot 200 rounds, but, in a nutshell, with good ammo and factory mags, it worked like a charm. With Wilson mags and plinking ammo, it was a nightmare.
FIT AND FINISH:
Though I have no other 1911s to compare to, fit and finish is good. Nothing sharp or snaggy when you hold it. Both mainspring house and frame is curved inward at the bottom so it's a micro-bobtail. The MSH and frame are well blended at the bottom, but not blended as you move up (i.e., there is a edge between the frame and the bottom of the MSH checkering). Grip safety is well blended with the frame where the meat of your hand grips the beavertail.
Extractor does not fit flush with rear of slide.
Top edges of the slide are chamfered instead of rounded, so it's a "polygon" looking slide. Recoil spring portion of slide is chamfered at the front and there is a spring plug matching the chamfer. Barrel bushing is also chamfered at the bottom to match. I think it's a great look for a 6". Mating between the bushing and spring plug looked very good upon first inspection. After firing, there are small burrs appearing at the edges of the spring plug, which I filed off. The spring plug is counterbored so I believe the recoil spring is a standard 5" recoil spring.
Bushing is pretty loose on the barrel, there is noticeable up and down (i.e., off bore axis) play. Bushing is loose but good fit in the slide, there is no off-bore axis play, but you can turn it with your fingers. As for the recoil lugs, after putting 200 rounds in it there are notcieable wear marks on the front recoil lug but none on the second. Maybe the front lug can be still be filed down a bit for better lockup. But, like I said, it's already more accurate than I am.
SHOOTING:
I shot a Hornady 175 gr Flexlock cartridge and an Armscor 180 gr FMJ cartridge. Mags were the factory mags and Wilson 47NXs. Hornady + factory mag ran without fault 5 magazines. Every other combination, failure to feed/failure to go into battery, worst combo being the Wilson mags with the Armscor. Honestly, the Wilson 47NXs feel like they are waay too tight.
Using the included mags (not sure of brand): With 175 gr Hornady Critical Duty Flexlock SD load (520 ft-lbs muzzle advertised), 30 rounds no malfunctions, mag lock backed every time. Armscor 180 gr FMJ, there was at least one failure to feed/failure to go into battery every magazine. Sometimes this could be resolved by a swift tap to the back of the slide. Other times it required clearing the chamber.
Using Wilson 47NX mags: With the 175 gr Hornady load, of a single magazine tried, three failure to feed/failure to go into battery before I stopped. With the Armscor 180 gr FMJ, many failures to feed/failures to go into battery.
Though the Armscor is advertised as greater muzzle velocity as the Hornady, it is obviously a cheap, inconsistent plinker load. Though both loads were mild by 10mm standards, the recoil impulse was noticeable sharper with the Hornady and it felt like the powdered burned faster. The Hornady and factory mags worked great, but I can't afford to shoot that all the time.
I'm now left wondering if a weaker or stronger recoil spring would get the Armscor to feed better.

ETA: I'm 80% certain the reason for the FTFs is because the extractor is too tight. I going to read and adjust the tension and head back out. If it still FTFs it's going back to DW.

I have a longslide Fusion Firearms Hunter with a 6" barrel, it will have to do for me.
First trigger time with the Bruin at a indoor range.
Ran 150 rounds, 50 Blazer, 50 Sigs and 50 of 160 Gr Obsoletes.
Getting a failure to completely cycle in the 1st 80 rounds with every magazine. It tailed off to every other magazine. Should get better with more rounds.
Now the cartridge is in the chamber but the slide needs to be pushed in. Everything else worked fine.

Nope, I only have three, maybe four if you count my Mechtech CCU as one.
Bruin update:
Did not clean it after I ran the earlier 150 rounds. I oiled the heck out of it and racked it a lot.
50 rounds of Armscor, 50 Blazers, 50 Obsoletes, 50 Remingtons, 50 American Eagle, 50 Sigs, 20 Sig premium, 20 Hornady 155's and 20 Silver Tips.
360 rounds today.
ONE malfunction, a premature lock back. A Blazer aluminum was stuck in the magazine and did not move up.
Cleaned it and was surprised to see the finish stay intact. The guide plug was a hassle and you cannot use a bushing wrench as it rotates the plug, it sets in a special way. The spring appeared to have a kink in it, but it ran fine.
Magazines are Mec Gars, looks like a Delta or Kimber follower.
Bruin now cleaned and oiled. Ready for more........................
