I may look and see what apps are out there now to do this.
It only works with specific air rifles, let alone firearms. I don't shoot air rifles, so no use for it.
It also only works at meticulously known ranges. I would further guess that for very soft backstops it would not work.
Based on the required inputs, it is "listening" for the sound of the report and the target strike. Distance/time = speed.
I bet it would work with suppressed sub-sonic firearms/loads. But probably only from fixed action guns. A semi-auto would spew additional noise that might interfere with readings.
It would be so cool if a Chrony output data right into your cellphone.
Yeah...A bluetooth enabled chronograph would be sweet. Easy data logging.

I emailed Oehler many years ago and asked the to produce a retrofit for their 35P so it can be connected to a computer/laptop. They never got back to me.

Caldwell has this out of the box for $150 or less.
