Looks like next year we will be able to order a GI 1911 from CMP. I am hoping they offer frames and parts too. Great source for some custom builds. I might want to start looking for some 40 caliber 1911 slides.

I guess I have to retract my statement about next year. I read an article that quoted Mark Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, as saying it would be 18-24 months after they receive the first shipment before they would actually be available. So, I guess here's to a good 2017!
That is actually Ok with me. I need to save my pennies to attend the Cylinder and Slide 1911 gun smithing course in 2016.
But, it was an amendment to a big bill he could hardly veto.
That and I am already CMP qualified and have gotten 2 M1 Carands from them so far, for like half the price of a retail one. I will be getting 45's if this is true.
I am telling you guys he is willing to deal in our favor.
