Title: 10mm Glock mag AR, and a g20; seems like a great combo
Post by: scubadds on November 24 2015 11:31:46 AM MST
I am making a 9mm Glock magazine AR and started thinking about what a great combo a 10mm carbine and glock would be.

Am I crazy thinking that you could use one mag for both, load mild or wild loads and have a very versatile platform.

IMHO a 12" barrel carbine AR in 10mm would be an excellent use of the 10mm.

I keep hoping TN Arms will do an AR15 lower that supports Glock large frame mags, or one that supports grease gun mags.  There are other lowers out there that support grease gun mags, but they are terribly expensive.

I was thinking of going with quarter circle 10 lower.
I have shot their small mag lower in 9mm, the one I shot was full auto and suppressed. (with night vision in the desert)...

Having trouble finding bolt and DI barrel to work with

Yeah...that is on par with the price of the others I have seen for grease gun mags.  TN Arms would probably be about half this price, maybe more.

I have one of these, and it's awesome. You need Ron Williams.

Most of the Glock-AR lowers are for the smaller 9mm, 40S&W, and 357SIG magazines. I do not know if they make a 45ACP/10mm Glock-AR lower.

I wanted a Glocked AR, but there were two reason why I didn't get one. 1) I can't have an AR style rifle with a magazine release in California; 2) The Glock-AR lowers don't have a last round bolt hold open.

Circle 10 does make a large frame Glock lower. And it does have last round lock open. It still does have a  magazine release button however

I have a quarter circle ten large mag glock lower...they had a dealer sale...couldn't resist.

I bought a .45 bolt. But thinking 10mm is still in my future.
I believe a 6.8 bolt works; guess I need the glock cut added.

Then I need a 10mm barrel.  Thinking around 7-10" or so...anyone see any barrels out there?

I'm with cwlongshot....

Runs like a dream, very mild recoil (even with full power 10s), lots and lots and lots of fun.

Whatever you end up with, make it a 10, and make it yours.

You mean like this?

QC10 lower, RMW Extreme upper. I had to play with different buffers since I run it suppressed but ended up with a standard carbine buffer with one weight removed.

Trying to convert mags to high cap has been the biggest challenge. Followers like to hang up from time to time.

Huge read here with many good tips: http://10mm-firearms.com/10mm-rifles/rmw-extreme-build-it-has-begun/

Feed issues is a bit vague. How is the round hanging up. Details and pictures, and I can help. Largest issue before we get to mag => chamber issues: Your ammo will need some type taper at the brass mouth. If left even slightly belled, it will hang feeding in an AR.

KCI .45 mags with lips pinched work better than Glock 20 mags on mine (RMW). I dremeled the Glock mag on the back plate and it helped a little.

Typical. You must shoot very hot ammo. Low pressure .40SW type ammo not going to be gassed enough. Really these are best run on home loads, loaded very hot.

Basically start reading on page 5 of the link I provided.

First thing you need to do is make your bolt super free moving. This has to be or you will have no chance. I'm not talking about worn out loose but extremely free moving like most every AR-15 isn't (just over gassed, so they work fine) . You know it's free moving when it feels like a precision machine when you hand cycle it. All the contact surfaces in the bolt and bolt carrier needed to be polished.

Then get  this spring: http://www.davidtubb.com/ar15-tubb-parts/ar15-buffer-spring-stainless

I have to run out now.

From this link, read starting at page 8. I forgot to mention the bolt lugs. Get the two that slide to a mirror surface. Really study what they do. Also, the bolt cam pin and groove in the carrier must be super polished. No burrs, that groove is nasty is some bolt carriers.
