Title: Did you get your 100 rounds today?
Post by: sqlbullet on November 19 2015 07:38:11 AM MST
http://www.ammoday.com/

While I like the idea of creating awareness that having ammo around doesn't make you a nut or criminal, it seems kinda commercialized.

Is buying a box of 50 in .357 Magnum for less than $18 cheaper than reloading?

Not even close.

Bullets = Cast them myself from free lead
Primers = $35/K at the store, so $1.75 for 50
Powder = $30/lb at the store.  I don't know if the box you bought is mild or wild, so I will assume a max load of Alliant 2400.  $3.00 for powder.

Brass = usually reused, but lets assume we bought it. $8.00

So, I could load my first 50 for $12.75, and then my second fifty for $4.75.

I bought some LongShot at the local gun shop, cleaned some brass and loaded a hundred rounds of 180gr FMJs and a hundred hollow points. So I guess I didn't "buy a 100 rounds" but that's close enough. Had no idea that event was going on, but I probably wouldn't have done anything different anyway. I buy and load too much ammo as it is. Time for some range time! :D

except....I dropped off the Glock at the shop for some new sights to be put on

after I handed it to him I asked what the turnaround was, he said "oh about a week or so..."  :-X

damn, should've just put the stupid things on myself...

I bought tires for my Suburban and Bronco online about 2 years ago.  In case you wondered, you can just apply a shipping label directly to the tire tread.  There was no hiding what they were.

He still teases me about it.

Yes.  ordered more than that today in 9mm, 10mm and .357 Mag just before I logged in here.  Have some 175gr Silver Tips coming for the G20.  ;D

I agree with previous comments.  According to the MSM, having more than one box of ammo in your house means you are "stockpiling".  Makes as much sense as going to the gas station and only getting enough gas for the trip to the store you are making, AND doing that every day.  silliness.

Yeah...I don't get that perception.

According to my last inventory I have about 600 rounds of 10mm loaded and ready to go.  I have components to assemble probably 10X that much, maybe more.

And that is just 10mm.  Not mentioning 5.56, 308, 300 blk, 260 Rem., 30-06, 6.5 Carc, 22 LR, 22 WMR, 410, 12 ga, 16ga, oh, and 45 ACP.
