I'm watching it now too! If you own, have thought about, etc... a Delta... this might interest you!
Interesting video. The author asserts that the Norma ammo may have degraded, resulting in the tested 970 fps for 200 grain 10mm.
Begs a question. Did Norma ammo ever meet the actual hype? Does anyone have any references from the day of norma ammo being tested as producing the velocities claimed.
Also, is it possible that by the time the Delta Elite arrived on the scene in 1987, Norma had backed off their loads.
I tend to agree with with the author of the video. Either Colt is not producing a gun that can handle SAAMI spec 10mm ammo, or Underwood and Buffalo Bore are producing ammo that is over the SAAMI spec, or in some other regard compromised.
So Cooper intended the 200gr to be 1000 FPS?

I read this fairly recently, that Cooper's original 10mm load was a 200 grain bullet at around 1000+. I can't remember where I read it though.
It would make sense, in that this level of load would be easily handled by the Delta Elite.
The NORMA ammo was loaded down shortly after the D&D testing of the Bren Ten. Mike Dixon was able to finalize external specifications; he also upped the velocity specification to 1150 feet per second, which exceeded Col. Cooper's numbers of 1000 feet per second and Dornaus wanted the numbers low for fear of reliability. It was Mr. Dixon reasonability to find ammo makers to produce the 10mm Auto ammunition. It was because he knew back then the ammo companies fudged their numbers. However NORMA did supply them with ammo that was exceeding those specs.

yes. Cooper long advocated a .400 caliber, 200 grain bullet at 1000 fps as the "ideal" pistol round.
I think Cooper felt the Norma loading offered some headroom to that goal.
