Just wondering because I see nice 227 for sale locally
It should. I have thought this would be a pretty sweet changeup.
Just as an update
This does NOT WORK. The slides fit, but the .45 227 frame has a 2 piece ramp and .45 barrel has a much shorter feed ramp that is designed to work with the .45 frame. The Sig 10mm barrel has a 1 piece ramp, so even swapping barrels will NOT work.
I am guessing that this issue will be there in a 220 for .45 as well. I do not have a Sig 220 in .45 to check out.
The ejectors are very different between the two guns as well.
Close but no cigar, as some would say.
Well that rains on my fantasy parade big time. I had high hopes that Sig would offer a standard capacity magazine model, rather than the reduced capacity model they currently have out there now (and yes, that is my jab at high capacity magazine bans).
Sig could still definitely make a 227 in 10 mm. the changes are pretty much the same as they made to the 220. Different ejector slightly different barrel ramp ( one piece)
Different magazines with different followers.
yeah, but alot harder than making a 10mm magazine and just swapping top ends. That is what I was hoping. No engineering effort at all.
Well yes that's what I thought was going to be the case too.
Especially when all the people on Sig talk said that the gun frames were identical. Of course they were talking about a 45 model 220 and a 45 model 227
