Title: 460 Rowland Clark Conversion Kit
Post by: BEEMER! on October 31 2015 05:19:38 PM MDT
I ordered a kit from Clark to convert a Colt pistol I had earlier in the week.  It and the brass came in today and it looks real good.

I put the barrel into the slide and the hood fit up good and everything looked fine to me.  I tried the slide/barrel assembly onto the frame without the spring or guide rod and it will not go on.  I do not know if the barrel lug is hitting something or if the locking lugs are not letting the barrel go up high enough.  I will take it to my Gunsmith on Monday and let him fix it.

Clay at Clark told me that about 90% drop right in but I was not surprised it did not.

What have others experienced with the Clark Kits?

Did you get your clerk kit put in by the gunsmith.  I have had one in a 1911 Springfield for maybe eight years or more and it has been excellent I really like it and it's very accurate

Yes, my Gunsmith was able to fit it up for $25.00 and it shoots real good.

Accuracy is much better with the 460 barrel than with the 45 ACP barrel.

My Gunsmith has won the Master Class at Camp Perry and builds his own and a lot of other Competition Pistols.  He feels that leaving that little bit of fit up on this pistol is really better than a drop in would be.

Recoil is not as bad as I expected.  My only complaint is that my old arthritic hands have a lot of trouble with reassembling the recoil springs.  I have the same trouble with a V-16 Springfield in 45 Super.

Why can't they build a confined recoil spring like a Glock for us "Old Guys".
