Title: Anyone shot the CZ 97 (45acp)? - What's the trigger like?
Post by: Buckeye 50 on October 11 2015 10:54:35 AM MDT
I am trying to find one to rent but was wondering what the stock trigger is like?  Any other comments about the gun are welcome also.

Thanks,

Pat

CZ pistol triggers need some work. When you pull the trigger in single action mode, the hammer travels quiet a ways back before releasing. It is a type of safety feature. AR-15 trigger do that to some extent, but not as bad as CZ pistol triggers. The CZ hammer and sear can be worked on to alleviate most of the problems.

It has been a number of years since i fired a CZ-97, but as I recall, DA was lighter than my Witness, SA was heavier.  Both DA and SA were grittier, but it was the -97's first time to the range where my Witness was several thousand rounds in, plus probably 10K dry fires.  I would expect the CZ to have smoothed up over time.

The 2013 to current model have improved magazines similar to the K45's/K10's Mec Gar Witness. One can use a Witness Mag in the newer models to keep mag costs down. Reports of older 97s, pre 2008 model, was that the feed ramp did't like JHPs. CZ has made the feed ramp longer to digest JHPs. Id stick to 2013 to current yr models overall.

In stock form, the trigger is OK, but nothing special.

As noted above, it greatly benefits with some parts from either Cajun or CZC.

I happened to shoot one the the Cajun's B-E and it was a very nice experience. Very accurate and trigger was very nice.
