I was bored and measured the Bar-Sto barrel for a Delta. Noticed the last 3/8 th inch or so was around .005 larger than the rest of the barrel. The bushing is fitted for that size....Anyway, I measured the Colt barrel and it was the same all along it's length.
Is this done for less bushing wear or some other reason? Never seen it mentioned before, but then again, there are many things I don't know. :D
Probably done so for tighter lock up at the end, even though "lock up" is at the lugs.

Wouldn't the same fit to bushing accomplish the same thing with the barrel size being the same along it's full length.......as is the OEM Colt barrel?
Yes it would. I would guess the philosophy is less wear on the bushing by relieving the clearance. It could also be they increase the diameter of the last .375" so you can fit the barrel to a worn bushing.

Could be, I suppose, but the B-S barrel comes with a fitted bushing. I just asked as I've never noticed this before.
