Post by: HiVel on September 20 2015 04:00:55 PM MDT
Rock Island Armory has a new 16+1 shot 6" that interests me . Have not seen one -do not know if they are available . No other info except looks prettty neat.  1911 long slide with 17 rounds of 10mm should be fun. Anyubody got one ?? Info??

Got one of these babies and so far -- I like it!  I've ran over 300 rounds thru with no issues.  It's a big gun and handles recoil well.

Mark,

Could you post some pics? I'm interested in this pistol too. Does it have a fully supported chamber? I'm new to 1911s and I've read the RIA 1911s have an unusual takedown for disassembly requiring the use of a paper clip or other type object. Is this true? How is the overall fit and finish? How's the trigger?

Sep,  If you will PM me your email address -- I'll send a photo to post.  I can't post photos but will be happy to send one to you.  Fit and finish are OK -- this is not a Les Baer custom.  Trigger needs some work -- IMHO.  Overall -- I am satisfied with this big ten.

The take down of a RIA is not unique but common to all 1911 with a bull barrel with no bushing. It's not a big deal and if you want to make it took less look up Dawson Precision.
