Title: Holster for G20L/G40?
Post by: Pablo on August 15 2015 11:09:15 AM MDT
What are the holster options for a Glock 20 Longslide? (assume fit Glock 40)

I now have my reliable enough for woods carry and prefer a leather holster, but mind is open. I have not searched the web, rely on you guys too much  ;D. Well I do trust you!

If the holster is opened at the end, where the muzzle can come out, the G20 holster works fine. Closed....different story.

If you're lookin for a leather chest holster, I think the Guides Choice made for the G20 by Diamond D will fit the G40. I haven't actually tried it but the bottom of the holster is open which should accommodate the longer barrel of the G40. I don't have a hip holster for my G40 yet but my old nylon chest holster originally made for my 7 1/2 inch Super Redhawk also fits my S&W 629, it fit my G20 and as you can see from the pics it fits my G40. It's another option for a chest holster.

Been using one of these for my G20SF long slide.  Found on ebay for about  $36.

Really looking for a right hip holster.

The S&W 6" N frame nylon holsters fit the longslide well. If you have/plan on large optics, they also make them for scoped revolvers that should easily accommodate a reflex type sight. I have Blackhawk (Walmart) and Uncle Mike's that work with mine. 8-3/8" with a comp. or flash suppressor.

I started carrying my G20 in a Galco F.L.E.T.C.H.  The problem was it would squeak really bad on a leather belt when I was sitting in my tree stand. Now I use a Bianchi Accumold.

The  Bianchi Accumold is open on the bottom? I'm asking bout the 20L.

I just tried my Bianchi Model 7, Size 23, Shadow II leather holster I previously bought for my G20. As you can see from the pics, it fits my G40 fine too. Just another option for you. My nylon Uncle Mikes hip holster Size 4 used for my Ruger Super Redhawk and S&W 629 will not fit the G40. The G40 trigger guard is too big.

I would take a look at eBay. A lot of holsters there that I couldn't find elsewhere in the past. Seems like they have a lot of dudes doing more custom work rather than just the main brands you'd normally find.

Good point on Ebay. I searched around a bit and bought an inexpensive starter holster:

$18, shipping included. The seller assured me the longslide will fit through. I'll give it a shot this fall.

Well...........he shipped it from Al on Saturday (free shipping). It arrived in WA state. On Monday!

The 20L does fit nicely. The threaded end sticks out about  1/2"-3/4" or so. Naturally without the threaded barrel end the fit = perfect. It's the rugged range bag cloth material. Well sewn. Reversible Bulldog belt clip and thumb snap. The mag pouch? Well a Glock 10mm magazine just barely fits. It's tight.

All and all, worth it. As I said, the next few months I'll try it.
