Anyone have any experience with this good or bad on their 10mm platform? Thinking of getting one maybe for the Glock 40 down the road. Had a bad time with my other pistol mounted red dot years back. A Cmore STS.
Dave, Have you any update on finding a red dot reflex sight for your 10mm? I just bought the Glock 40 gen 4 10mm MOS and I am trying to find a sight that will work on this gun slide (fit the direct mounting system on the slide) yet affordable. I would like to stay under $250. All the name brands are $350-$700. thank you!
You will want to ask questions about the mounting and screws that mount your optics as well. It was mentioned that some require longer screws for the G-40 setups...
I have a 40 MOS and the Burris fast fire three. As I recall that uses plate one. glock doesn't specifically list the fast fire 3 and their tech-support didn't have any information for it and didn't know anything about it.
Burris tech-support explained to me that it uses the the doctor (? Spelling) plate. And it worked fine with included hardware.
Also, only shot about 200 rounds after I put on the optic. But it makes it pretty easy to hit in the 9/10 ring at 25 yards.
I am personally just using this as a fun target pistol, not a hunting gun per se. I think you need a monopod to do any hunting with a handgun anyway.

I still haven't had any luck locating a Glock 40. My local range can get me a great blue label price on 'em if they are ever in stock. As far as a red dot sight I was considering the Burris FF3. A lot of people have good experiences with them. I just don't know if they can withstand 10mm recoil over the long haul.
I have a Trijicon RM07 on my G40 and love it. I had to buy an adapter plate and longer screws from Trijicon to mount the optic but it is perfect. It will definitely be going in the woods with me.
I haven't had my Vortex Venom 3 moa long enough to give it a real evaluation yet.
I debated between it and the FF but decided to try the Vortex. It was $229 and uses any mount the FF will use.
I have fired about 200 warm rounds from my G29 with a Dovetail Mount from Springer Precision. So far it has worked great.
They also have a Vortex Viper that has a 6 moa dot.

Have had my G40 MOS since August or so. Started with a FastFire II. Used the Dr. Plate and the Glock supplied cover plate screws.
Things learned, the Glock screws are really soft and easy to strip and I was concerned that they might shear off at some point. The FF II is nice unless you plan to put suppressor sights on to co witness the dot. The rear sight covers up the retical locking screws.
Solutions, on some site in the ether world a fella found some remote control car part screws that can be used to replace the Glock mounting screws.
They are the Traxxas # 2550 screws. Buddy, who ever you are, thanks. As for the FastFire, go with the III. No locking screws, top mounted battery compartment and there is a white line at the back of the sight housing that allows you to use with a tall suppressor front sight to co witness. A much better choice. Oh, one more thing in favor of the Burris, great customer service and life time warranty.
As for the 40 MOS, The cats a$$$$$$$ er pajamas. Great 10mm platform.
Good to hear this about the FastFire III. Just put a 40 on layaway yesterday and I'm working my way up the learning curve.
So far, so good with my Burris FF3 mounted on my G20 via UM3 Tactical rail mount.

Thank you.
Good choice and decision on the FF3.
I received my Burris FastFire III today. I installed it on my Glock 40. I had to use the Glock screws from the cover plate to mount it. I had to shorten them to work. The ones that came from Burris were the wrong diameter. The screws from Glock for the adaptor plate worked correctly. Everything was locktited. I am now waiting for it to cure and better weather.

I shot the Glock 40 today with the Fast Fire III. It really helped with the groups. My reloads with Blue Dot and Federal FMJ shot into 2 1/4" for 5 @ 25 yds. off a bag. One group at 50 yds. was also 2 1/4". It shut off on shot 11. I turned it back on and it worked for the rest of shooting. It is interesting that my Bushnell Red Dot on my Buckmark .22 also shut off once.

Excellent.
Mine has never shut off automatically like that. Weird. If you have anymore trouble, I hear that Burris has great customer service and their products have a lifetime warranty. :D
Just got my FF3 mounted on my Glock 40 MOS 10mm lastnight. Mounting was dead easy. Took it to the range today and the groups I shot at 30 yards were amazing.
Mounted my FFIII with the Burris mount on my M20. Shrunk groups by 1/2 at 25 yds. Can't wait to try it at 50yds. Seems solid so far.

Hey Detour,
Did you need to do anything special to get your FF3 mounted (shortening screws, etc.), or did you just use the supplied hardware and plates? Thx!
