Title: CZ P09. Anyone have or shot one.
Post by: pacapcop on July 26 2015 06:55:47 AM MDT
I been reading and viewing vids on this pistol and I feel CZ hit a homerun with these full size P09s in 9mm .40. They run like champs. Id actually say the Army should consider. Price affordable and decoker and manual safety choice. Input appreciated.

I've been thinking of purchasing a CZ. I have tanfos. Don't yet own any CZs.
I was looking at 75 tactical Steel. 12 round capacity is a negative. Don't get how a 18 round 9mm becomes 12 in 40.

Hey pacapcop,
I got one in 9mm about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have been VERY pleased and impressed with it so far!

I still love my Glock 20, two 1911 (45acp), Sig 239 (357 sig) and easy to concealable MP shield (9mm).  However,  Over last few months the idea of getting back into a full size 9mm began to appeal to me again (20 years since I owned my last one).
After deciding to get back into the my research began.  My original list of candidates:
Glock 17, 19
M&P full size or PRO
H&K VP9
H&K P30ls
CZ 75B, CZ 75 SP-01
Springfield XD
At some point I held them all.  Nothing wrong with any on the list above, all have their strengths.
In the end, features I wanted: polymer frame, night sights, very good trigger, rail, high capacity magazine, 4.25" barrel (minimum), RELIABLE.  When the dust settled for me, it came down to CZ 75 SP-01 & CZ P-09....
While similar and yet individually impressive; I picked P-09, not the least of which was it's 19+1 capacity (wink to Barry, Mikie & Andy).

Taken it to range twice since I picked it up and so far it's a beauty.  Slide is built into frame which really lowers bore axis very nicely into hand; natural and easy to aim.  Slide has a little weight to it which dampens the 9's modest recoil even more.  Cold forged barrel and factory night sights work very well together and its out of the box accuracy was excellent.  I've run about 400 various 115, 124 fmj (fmj ammo cheap) and about 50 various jhp different grains and +p without ANY hiccups so far.
I switched the de-cocker to a safety and really, really like the cocked & locked single action.  It's smooth as glass and around 3.5 to 4 lbs...  Even the double action is smooth and about 8 to 9 lbs I'd estimate.  On this occasion the hammer fire was also appealing to me.  Fit and finish on my pistol was excellent.

So far, havent found anything subpar or problematic.  Still very early but been everything so far has been exactly what I was looking for in 9mm platform and very pleased with new CZ P-09.

Thanks Rojo. Glad your experience with the P09 was spot on. Think I made a firm decision to get the P09 duty.  Just deciding between 9.mm or .40.

I've had mine for over a year now. Never had a ftf. Points very naturally. Holds 19 rounds. Accurate. I went through Sig. Glock.  S&W. SA. PO9 tops.

I see the FDE model offers night sights vs 3 dot fyi.

I wanted an FDE real bad, but a guy offered me his (almost new) P-09 with decent cash for my Ruger 1911 which was my least favorite 1911 behind my Colt and Sig 1911's.

Good deal on your part and you got the pistol.  I see mrgundealer.com has the .40 with tach light from cz at 419.00.

Really the only drawback of the gun is the price of the magazines.

I picked up the FDE model from Tooele Shooting Supply out of Utah for $525 + $9.95 shipping (+$30 transfer fee & background from my FFL)....  Less than vanilla Glock 17 or M&P with safety (price was not significant variable in selection process; just a very pleasant bonus).
Standard P-09 (9mm) can be found in low $420 range on line Retailers.

* Very important to inspect firearm CAREFULLY before accepting it and NICS is run.  If issue found before NICS run, firearm goes back to Retailer no questions or cost; afterward anything found becomes warranty issue with manufacturer.

Wonder if Wolff Springs will have the P09 fullsize springs coming. My 97BD can use the Mec Gar EAA at 24.99 vs 40.00.
