Should I change this to 165gr? Using the rounding method... falls way short of 170.
I was wondering if it would make the advertised numbers as shown on the box Wolfie showed...there was no info on the net listed for this ammo company. ???
Thats clearly 165 not even close to 170.
Yes 165 and 5 grains can make a difference with velocity considering friction and weight with ballistics. If they are making the advertised 1350 fps this is how the energy relates; (numbers revised after Wolfie stated the box showing 1350 not 1550)
If they used 170 grains as the energy with the 1350 velocity that would equate to 687 ft lbs
If they used 165 grains as the energy with the 1350 velocity that would equate to 667 ft lbs
Need to see how close they come to their numbers... :-[
Wolfie did they state a velocity on the box for the 180 grain?
No velocity on the 180s
The 170s are marked 1350
The box had 1350. It's nuts, but PBR makes a 165gr FMJ with 10.0gr's of Power Pistol. In both versions my results gave 1302 FPS. That's darn good!
I went back and revised the post, for the box flap velocity of 1350 fps (Thanks Wolfie for the update)
OK, if I see the 165's again should I continue to buy them?
Are they better than Armscor and Remingtons.
The FMJ's really don't need to be pushed to those levels unless you are hunting hogs and want deep penetration, I feel the FMJ to be a target round, just my opinion. They also appear to be plated bullets, in some test I have seen the plated jackets shred upon exit of the bore at higher velocities.
I would trust a cast bullet over the plated rounds, but that is mostly because I cast my own and they are inexpensive to load and shoot. ::)
