Title: Sprinco Reducer , or Henning cone guide rod and Wolff Spring ?
Post by: Tomcat 10 on July 04 2015 03:54:15 PM MDT
I have a new Witness 10mm Stock II , and  I  will be shooting a lot of hot ammo. .   I would like to know which system would be the best  to minimize recoil , and damage to the frame .

I use Henning guide rod in all my witness pistols. (6 slides with 3 frames). It is simple and easy to use.
I have no experience with the spring system.

Right here. Get the Henning rod and a 20-22lb Wolff spring. The Sprinco setup < Henning's setup with the right parts.

Is the Henning Guide rod with the Wolff spring better than the Sprinco set up ?

I think I need to do a Witness sticky with the information in one spot. If you search here you will find some links with everything I have tried to date.

No other guide rod gives the Cone anchor (except the EG Xtreme) and that's huge. The Sprinco will hang up at some point and is somewhat hard to wrack. The Cone rod, 20-22lb spring and a flat bottom firing pin retaining block all from Henning/Wolff is the best setup you can put in it.

Intercooler , Thank you very much , that is what  I was looking for .  I have the Henning Guide rod / Wolff spring set up ,also the Henning Lightweight X-Long Firing Pin , and springs .  I don't have the a flat bottom firing pin retaining block .  How does the flat bottom firing pin block help ?

It makes the slide harder to move backwards when the block contacts the hammer. You could put a stronger hammer spring in too.

Thank Intrecooler , you have been very helpful .  I was thinking that may be the Double spring used with Sprinco system would soften even more of the impact to the frame  from the hotter rounds .  I hope that doesn't sound stupid .

Sprinco's sytem is designed, or rather promoted to reduce impact to the frame. What Intercooler is talking about with the guide rod is the fitment to the frame itself. It is designed to not just ride on the little tabs, but to rest on the tabs and has an extension to also rest a little further forward on the meat of the frame. Hard to describe without pictures, go look at Hennings website for more accurate description. I won't knock Sprinco's system having never tried it myself, just seems a little gimmicky. I'd at least do some searching on reviews prior and see what you come up with.

To hell with all this single spring crap.  go here to solve that problem, it is in step with the 2015 world as Single springs are last century!!!

They make this UNBELIEVABLE system for all makes of guns, and IT WORKS!!! read my post after using this for 18 months now.

Just looked at the Henning website, doesn't look like it will work wit a 1911, only the Tanfolio/Witness.

I use the Sprinco in all my guns, but I'm open to suggestions if there is something better.   Tracy
