Title: Another 1911 spring weight question
Post by: Sailormilan2 on July 02 2015 10:41:06 PM MDT
I am collecting parts to put together a 10mm based on either a Springfield or RIA 1911 frame.  These frames are already being used as functioning 45 acps, and currently are running with 23# mainspring and 18 1/2# recoil spring.  If I use a non radiused firing pin stop, will 23# and 18 1/2# be sufficient, or should I go to a 20# recoil spring? I plan on using a 5" slide and non ramped barrel.
I know I can't hot rod the round too much.
TIA

I run a 25# mainspring with a 18.5# recoil and a fbfps.  I think you are most likely fine.

I run a #20 recoil. fbfps (no radius), and #25 mainspring with a Sprinco in my Delta. Tracy
