Anyone have any input ? Mine is 10 grains of 800x under 180 grain xtp new starline brass Winchester large pistol primer 1.252 OAL 1394 fps low 1414 high kimber custom TLE 5" 26# main spring 20# recoil spring. lots of fun to shoot turns milk jugs into confetti :D
must be a screamer... I think BB or UW did 9.4gr/800x with the 180 a while back.
I based one of my reloads on that info and settled on 9.2gr and its hot enough for me. ( stock g20 )
Klock20, 10.0 grains is pushing the very limits of the brass and the primers. Yesterday someone posted pictures on FB 10mm Group using this same loading and had flattened and pierced primers...
Myself I hold to 9.6 grains as my maximum with the 180's, it's just easier on the guns and the brass and reaches 1360 fps.
Also while working at even these levels I hand weigh ONLY for my safety factor.
Underwood was at 9.4gr
Wow, 9.0 grains was hot enough for me!

agreed..that's why I stopped at 9.2gr. Still gives me a safety factor and that's with hand weighing each one.
It was rally hot. after sleeping on it go with 9.6 just to be on the safe side and not to beat the hell out of my 1911. these are not loads I'm going to shoot very often if ever. My typical target load is 8.6 under a 180 grain Berrys. My case head was .424 after shooting 10 grains did not have any punctured primers but they were definitely flat for sure ;D
I started getting smeared primers at 8.9 grains and accuracy wasn't anywhere near what I was hoping for. I've had much better results with power pistol and wsf or any other powder I've used so far in the 10mm. I've come to the conclusion that 800x just isn't a great 10mm powder. I've had better results using it in 357 and 44 magnum.
