There are some interesting points made in the video.
Clearly he favors polymer guns and would choose a Glock 20 as his personal gun of choice in a 10mm.
And yet, here we are with the Sig P220 and Sig 1911 in 10mm new this year. And the Witness line does pretty well in 10mm with big, heavy CZ pattern 10mm guns.
Not to mention the clamor by some departments for S&W third gen guns to come back. And many others going to Sig.
Seems like the days of the steel service sidearm aren't quite as over as one might imagine.
Curious. What Depts clamoring for the 3rd Gen Smiths. FYI, think that's awsome. Just news to me. Thanks Additionally, MrGunsandGear favors the Glock 10mm. I still lean towards CZ 97 in 10mm Decocker or Manual is a good platform to come about.Think the 97 metallurgy is more robust than the Witness Standard Wonder Finish.
The 4006TSW is still in production due to the demands of the CHP. WSP still issues a 4566TSW. New Hampshire state level departments had M&P and wanted to go back to the 4566 they had before. S&W said no, so they now are issuing SigP220 and P227's.
Seems like I read the LAPD forced some 4506's and 4566's to be produced. Word on the street is S&W will produce small runs of 3rd gen guns for government agencies if they meet a minimum order size of 50.
I wonder if we put together a group buy of 50 1006 or 1076 guns they would make them.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. I would guess S&W is charging a premium for those guns, and probably taking a loss on them to boot. They would do that for the brand value of having LAPD and CHP in their customer list, versus those departments buying SIG or Beretta.
Not only that, but I have to wonder if it may be that this is where all the 3rd gen parts went. It might be worth asking but I really doubt they would do it.

I have to admit, while owning a Bren Ten would be cool, and I very much envy the guys here who own the ultimate example of 10mm Auto history, I would probably not buy one today over an EAA Witness Elite series.
Cross bolt safety and the higher bore axis just make a gun that is much less what I would want in an EDC type gun. I really think I would choose a Witness Stock I or Limited Pro over the Bren Ten.

Yes! It does! Burn the witch!! Actually, I have to agree with you completely. In my mind it's a lot like people that enjoy "classic" cars, they may be excellent examples of what was produced at the time but that's just it: there have undoubtedly been advancements in technology since those first ideas were fleshed out. Execution has certainly been refined since those early days so it's no wonder that way more people drive newer vehicles than older vehicles. The older/first gen/original guns/cars are definitely cool and often unique, but newer ones are just so much more approachable/usable/functional. Not that the older classics aren't still serviceable, they certainly are and we see them from time to time being driven/shot as in this Vickers video. Is it a better option than current production? Probably not. But I'd still like to have one. Would I take it over a modern gun for a legitimate carry gun if given the option? Again, probably not. But I certainly appreciate the pedigree and the history behind it.
The funny thing is the Bren Ten was meant to be the evolution of the CZ-75 design. But it seems like they regressed. About the only thing they really got right was the barrel length, as I am a 5" guy, and the bushing, which I do also favor over a bushingless design.
The Bren Ten Barrels were called "Power Seal" rifling, the freebore lacks rifling for almost an 1" before the rifling starts.

I just bought a Glock 29 , but I love and will never sell my Tanfoglio 10mms . I love the all steel CZ platform . I will pick up the G29 Tomorrow , and I feel I will love it as well . The Glock will be my EDC , once I get a lot of quality time with it at the range . I wish the Witness ( Tanfoglio ) 10mms Had more Holsters , and other gear available . no one makes a mold gun for the 10mm Witness , so Holster Makers don't offer holsters for them .

I think the CZ platform is outstanding. Its my favorite. I wish they would fix the compact magazine issue, but that a diffenent issue.
I like all metal as a preference. I have a G20, and I guess I have nothing against it, but its hard to love. My carry is a CZ2075 in 9mm. It uses aluminum frame and it is light (nearly as light as all poly) and retains the machined, full length guide rails of the steel. Great idea!!!
I like 10mm Tanfoglio's but wish the CZ's would offer would offer the 10mm chambering too.

I gotta admit, having shot a CZ-97 and Witness Elite Match side by side, I prefer the Witness by a long margin.
Fit and finish was better on the Witness
Not a fan of the slide locking when the safety engages (I know some people are)
It was HEAVY. My Witness' guns are too, but it felt notably heavier in the hand.
Years ago I had a CZ-75B, and I do regret selling it. It was one of the very first that made it into the country when they started importing. But, it was superior to my Tanfoglio guns in no way.
