Is there a good or several good sites to buy aftermarket parts for tweaking or upgrading a 10mm 1911? I'm looking through Brownells and there's not much. Is this gun this new??
What parts? The only parts of a 10mm 1911 that are caliber specific are the barrel (10mm), slide (40/10mm) and extractor (38 super) and possibly the ejector.
The rest of the parts may be gun dependent but are not caliber dependent. By that I mean if your gun has a high ride beaver tail grip safety installed, then you would need to replace it with similar. Going back to a standard government safety would be a challenge due to metal that was removed from the frame to fit the high ride. Similarly, there are a number of options in recoil plugs depending on your guns barrel and recoil spring set up.
But none of these options are 10mm specific. The only part that is truly 10mm Auto specific is the barrel, and even that is subject to fudging if you own a 10mm reamer, as any .400 short chambered barrel can work, as long as it is compatible with your frame cut.
Sounds good. What about hammer springs and recoil springs?
They aren't special. I personally run Wolff springs. I strongly suggest a 18.5lb recoil spring and a 23-25lb main spring along with a flat bottom firing pin stop. Testing by Ned Christiansen at Michiguns seems to indicate that this combination will result in slide momentum when the slide reaches the end of the action very similar to 230 grain ball in 45 ACP. And it does it without a bunch of extra momentum the other way.
Thanks for the info. I'm looking at those springs. I use Brownells a lot! Please be patient with my ignorance, but the flat bottom firing pin stop is universal in the 1911? I'm used to buying for .45's.
I remember running a 9mm firing pin in my Rem R-1 .45 a few yrs back. It's been a while since I tinkered with it, but I believe it was because it was lighter. Worked great.

I know fusion has them broken down by caliber and you have series 70 vs series 80
My brother is a lot of help(out of town). He told me about the series 70/80. Gotta get my mind back into it and relearn some of this stuff. I converted two of my .45's
The only real option in firing pin stops from EGW is series 70 or Series 80. The stop will require fitting. Calipers or a micrometer will make this easier, but only a file and some emery cloth is required.

Please excuse any rudeness you sense from me. I don't mean it if I come across that way.
Oh no. I'm just preparing you for my pestering.
The 10mm started to really gain in popularity about 1-2 years ago and there weren't a lot of gun manufactures then. There just aren't a lot of accessories unless you are shooting a Glock.
Maybe Lone Wolf www.lonewolfdist.com , but i can't say for sure because i only look at the Glock accessories. You can also try the usuals like Natchez, Buds Gun Shop, Midway USA, etc. Your best bet is to just type in exactly what you are looking for in a google search.
