Title: Shot Some More Underwood 155 grain XTP Yesterday
Post by: 4949shooter on May 17 2015 08:36:13 AM MDT
This ammo is HOT. My shooting buddy fired ten rounds and didn't want to shoot any more of it. I offered to let the range officer shoot it as well and he declined.

This ammo really turned some heads at the range.

It does feel hotter than the 165 grain Gold Dot which I fired on Friday. For whatever reason..

What  gun did you fire it in?  Was it the G-20?
What did the cases look like?

A 10MM loading that MEN are afraid to shoot???  (ESP in a Glock20!!!) You should have confiscated there man cards on the shot...   :o ;D ;D ;D :P

My 130# wife shoots EVERYTHING I have loaded... that's up to 45Long Colt Ruger loadings. NEVER a whimper.. NO ONE EVER told her it was a heavy recoiling caliber...

Underwood makes great ammo. I've always been pleased with it.

I stopped shooting them out of the G20 too.  Restricted to the Witness!

I have shot that same load on my G20 and did not look that bad.  I need to shoot and compare again

That's my favorite load and, consequently, my carry load in my G20. It's certainly not for the faint-of-heart though; talk about having a commanding presence!

Gen 4 G20. No issues with the brass, neither for this ammo or the 165 grain Gold Dot. I must be lucky to have two well supported barrels / chambers for both my Glocks.

Either that, or there is some other issue like premature unlocking for some of the other Glocks.

Geeman, maybe those were from a bad lot? Or were those from prior to Kevin backing the load off? Or were they Buffalo Bore?

Haha! I was surprised no one took the dare.  :P

It's always interesting having people at the range comment on the "loud report."

Thanks for all the comments, guys. More feedback would be appreciated!

I create much interest when I bring my PMR-30 to the range too...rifle ammo produces a large fireball and LOUD report but no recoil to speak of! Usually end up donating fifty rounds so others can try it. :)

They should be OK but catch a few brass to see just how they are working looking for any ill effects!  ::)

They were bought a little over a year ago.  I know they were NOT loaded with 800x like the pull down database shows.  I think the powder was Longshot and I measured around 10.5g.  I think the transition to that powder has been going for awhile, and I think he was trying to maintain the same velocity.  I don't think that's possible at the same pressure 800x generates.

The barrel was the factory Gen4 G20 barrel and factory spring setup.  I simply gave up spending money on aftermarket stuff on the ugly pistol when it run flawlessly box stock.

I have to limit myself to a single 5-shot group when there are other folks at the range.  EVERYONE wants to see the crazy guy fire a 416 Rigby pistol, but the concussion will send them packing if they think I'm going to continue shooting the bugger.

10mm anything won't hold a candle.
