Title: Storm Lake Barrel
Post by: REDLINE on August 29 2012 08:50:20 PM MDT
After 59 days of submitting the order, my brand new Storm Lake 6.02" barrel for my G20 has arrived.

I'm impressed so far.  The fit and finish is beyond imagination.  The chamber support is awesome without being 100%.  Factory rounds drop right in without extra play.  They actually literally mirror polish finished the back half of the chamber.  Doesn't really matter, but it also comes packaged in a pretty fancy box.

So far it is beyond my expectations, and I was expecting a lot.  This weekend I expect to put some rounds through it and find out if there are any functioning issues.  I put it in my G20 and all seems perfectly well there.

So far, so good, and then some.  Wish I could have put up some pics, but after accidentally bouncing my camera off a rock...

I'll say this;  So far it was well worth the wait.  I expect to let you know by Monday if it feeds well or is fussier than a someone who won't eat their vegetables.

Who did you buy it through?  Looking at their website it doesn't look like they sell direct to the public.

I have a SL 357Sig in my G23. It is great. Good fit, nice look, and most important, perfect function.

You will be happy with your choice.

Midway has a few for the G20.

I did buy it directly through Storm Lake, on their website.  They do sell direct to the public.

On the website you need to build the barrel you want and then click whatever the icon button is to buy it.

When I go through the build a barrel think I end with a link that takes me to dealer search.

You are correct.  I obviously had no idea they changed things within the last 60 days.  It does say to call them regarding barrel purchases if you have any issues with stocking dealers, which I have found don't normally stock much of Storm Lake even when they claim to in general.  I suspect Storm Lake would still be happy to build anyone a barrel that wants one, but of course I don't know for sure.

It's certainly easy enough to contact them at 1-866-392-1654, Monday - Friday from 9am-4pm EST, and find out for sure.  Email works too.

Like I said, their website wasn't like that less than 60 days ago.  It's a surprise to me too.

Thanks for letting me know I wasn't crazy.  I would much prefer to deal direct so I will call them on Tuesday.

I ended up buying a KKM, should be here next week.

Should be a great barrel.  KKM claims an extremely polished bore surphase via their button rifling process.

Have any of you guys used an EFK Firedragon barrel? I had an opportunity to buy one when I got my G21, but passed because of limited funds. It was the only Glock replacement barrel I've seen that actually had a better internal finish than the factory Glock bore; it was glass smooth all the way through. I guess they use EDM for their rifling. I'd like to try one someday.

I'ld be curious to know how much chamber support the EFK barrels have compared to others like Storm Lake, KKM, and Lone Wolf.
