Title: Shot some Underwood 165 grain Gold dot Yesterday
Post by: 4949shooter on May 16 2015 05:32:51 AM MDT
This is my new favorite 10mm self defense round. It is indeed powerful and controllable out of the Glock 20.

Question....I see two different loads on the master sheet. How do I know which one I have?

You will probably need to pull the bullet and have a look.

+1
At the top of my preferred self defense choices as well.
Over time I find myself floating back and forth a bit between Underwood 165 grain Gold Dot & Buffalo Bore 155 tac-xp in my Glock 20 for everyday normal life.  While in the woods, usually go with Federal Trophy Bonded 180 grain or Underwood 200 grain xtp.

I didn't know if there was a date when Kevin made the change. These are the newer 20 round box loads.

It is a great load. I haven't fired the Buffalo Bore 155 grain yet, but it is on the "to do" list.

The 165 gr is favorite 10mm load as well from Underwood.

IMHO the 165 is the best weight and velocity in 10mm for all around use.

I like it for the velocity and lower recoil on my G20 as well and it has more than enough umph,,as a SD round with out over penatration but then I think how would I do against windshield glass sheetrock? Then I think about 180''s but I feel they may over penatrate two legged predators and while still manageable has more muzzle flip than hit 155grainers  ,As it is now I carry on magazine  with 155 underwood with xtps and one with Winchester  17th grain Silvertip Ian just not sure which is more appropriate any input?

I think the Silvertips will penetrate more than the 155 grain XTP's.
