Title: Jeff Quinn's recent ammo testing through a Sig 220
Post by: Intercooler on May 08 2015 03:44:49 PM MDT
I wanted to see how his results compared to mine. Jeff got:

Buffalo Bore JHP            180   1323   My result 1328... Nice!
Buffalo Bore FMJ   200   1249           My result 1180... Difference of 69. Possibly different times.
Buffalo Bore HCL   220   1147   My result 1181... In the ballpark.
Buffalo Bore TAC-XP   155   1395   My result 1446... I bet his aren't the newer compressed load.
Double Tap JHP   135   1655           My result 1724... Not bad and his might not have been the new 800-X.
Double Tap GDHP   155   1375   My result 1451... Possibly not the new 800-X.
Double Tap JHP   165   1322           My result 1373... In the ballpark.
Double Tap GDHP   180   1341   My result 1219... Beats me, his must be loaded way better!
Double Tap GSHP   180   1334   No data for me. Not made for a while I suspect.
Double Tap XTP-HP   200   1223   No data for me. Long ago!
Double Tap FMJ   200   1232           No data for me. Never saw this one.
Double Tap TAC-XP   125   1616   My results 1652... In the ballpark.
Cor-Bon PB   135   1392   My result 1444... In the ballpark.
Cor-Bon DPX   140   1354   No data for me. Never saw this one.
Cor-Bon DPX   155   1213   No data for me. David saw 1193.
Cor-Bon JHP   135   1384   My result 1456... In the ballpark.
Cor-Bon JHP   150   1231   My result 1280... In the ballpark.
Cor-Bon JSP   180   1322   My result 1194... I think Cor-Bon slowed these down my box.
Cor-Bon FMJ   200   1058   My result 1082... In the ballpark.
Cor-Bon Glaser   115   1517   Never tested these.
Winchester JHP   175   1246   Depends on what generation these are. Hotter than the current offering. 1 or 2
Handload JHP   165   1288   No data given on the load.
Armscor FMJ   180   1124   My result 1156... In the ballpark.

It looks like to me this 220 gives about the same results as my 1006. My 1006 always shoots a little slower than my 4.75" Witness Polygonal barrels. It's probably more on par with a 4.6" G20 in the results department.

Yea, Jeff said the DT 135 grain was a TAC-XP...is not 135, it is a 125 TAC-XP... I mentioned it on his FB page.

He responded.  He has 125's from some point when they were offered.

Looks good. I do wish the price of the Sig was closer to $1000.

I might be looking at a Delta Elite for my next ten.

Agreed.  I always liked the feel of a Sig. But I wish they were cheaper.
