Today took its toll on my body, sharpened blades on my lawn tractor, and other maintenance, then my mom got a load of gravel for her driveway and I went help spread it with rake and shovel.
I had a mishap while testing this evening... I accidently struck the rear of the of the chrony
The plastic part that holds the sensor busted at the top edge, and the back metal wall bent back a little, it is fixable...the sensor is OK, the small window is OK as well, the plastic housing that secures the sensor is busted but if I have to I can make it work till the parts come in.
The little Ruger LCP is difficult to hold with two fingers and I think I dipped the shot, Being very sore and tired didn't help.

Look at the bright side, a .44 Magnum round would have really brought the hurt!

I switched to wooden dowels for my diffuser rods because one of them got bent... somehow. ;)
I'm really loving the Aluminum plates that were made to fit mine. So much better than the wood they replaced and work great with the metal diffuser rods! Anchoring outside of the Chrony has kept the plastic sensor holders perfect and I haven't hit any. Using the plate in the front has saved it from 4-6 strong hits ;)

Don't feel bad Wade, I center punched my first chrono with a 10mm. It was DOA.... ;)
Shadow-What happened to the iron you were using to cover your chrony? Seeing what you posted in the past inspired me to locate an ironing board, build a "box " to hold the chrony and a piece of ΒΌ" steel so that it would hold the steel in front of the chrony to protect it. My hands are not as steady as they were and sometimes the paper target would make you think I was using a "scatter " gun. LOL I elected to use bamboo skewers in stead of the metal rods and so far, have not hit the iron or the skewers
I did have the steel plate on a slope on the front, however the short grip of the Ruger LCP tends to tip the barrel down as I tightened my grip is what I think happened. (this pistol is new to me and haven't shot it much) The projectile flew over the front sensor but struck top of the rear sensor housing.

My buddy center punched one of the steel rods holding the diffuser the first week I had mine. Thankfully it didn't hurt anything except the rod and his pride. Rigged a replacement for it and its still running strong a decade after the incident.
