Eaa large frame - . 40 slide, barrel rechambering,

Beretta 96FS Brigadier Inox - Ream, machine frame, Witness Mags (not for the light of heart)
AMT Backup - Ream, remove magazine spacer
Glock 21 - slide/barrel/mag swap

You list it above, but I have done the Para P16 conversion, and am working on a P12 conversion with a slide/barrel/mag swap.

Seems like I have heard of an M1 Carbine conversion, but haven't ever read up on the process.

The Smith & Wesson 4013/4014/4053/4054 series (single stack versions) chamber reamed and magazine the dimples in the sides that were put in to retain the .40 cal spacer need to be removed to allow the rounds to fit.  A white 10 m.m. follower had to be modified to resemble the original .40 cal clearances for the magazine shape.  There were two different style magazines and the one with the dimple/notches up under the feed lips had to be modified / clearanced on the inside with a dremel and a small grinding stone. Recoil springs also have to be heavier and cut to fit...

Also the S&W CS40 was done with several modifications as well...

I know that the GP 100 357 Magnum has been converted but has anyone ever tried a Blackhawk? It seems the Blackhawk frame especially one of the older ones is a very sturdy frame and could handle the pressures. What are your thoughts on this? And would it have to be bored too  .40 as usual?

Be cheaper and quicker to just buy a used blackhawk in 10mm:

I don't know about cheaper, 875 and not even at the reserve yet... I might be able to grab a used gp100 for a couple hundred dollars off a buddy and have a gunsmith friend bore it out. I might see what I can do but that sure is a pretty Blackhawk on there..

Will965,  I had Hamilton Bowen do a conversion for me using a Blackhawk.  He does excellent work and I'm very pleased with the finished product.

Your opinions please.  Easy 10mm carbine
Ak47. Weld the bolt to th bolt carrier.  Grind the front trunnion locking lugs. Remove  barrel and replace with a .40 barrel, at 16" in length.

I'm visioning a ak47 magazine, remove springs and followers.  Start with a horizontal cut 1-2 inches below the tang that engages the mag release.   Insert a 10mm mag into the part with the feed lips.
Insert it into the action.  Position the .40 mag, in correct loading position.  Silver solder the upper ak47 & the .40  mag together.    Interchangeable mags!  With no welding done to the receivers Magwell

Opinions pleas

My initial thought, given how cheap AR's have become, is to save the AK and do this on an AR platform.

Beyond that I have little experience working on blow back actions, which is what you would be making here.  It would be neat if it worked.

I think there already is a 10mm AR out there.

I believe Colt made a carbine AR for the FBI when the FBI was using 10mm. I do not know if it was a prototype, or in production. I know HK made an MP5 in 10mm.

Grey's Guns were converting steel framed SIG P220s long ago. But it cost like over $1000 and you had to supply the P220. Now SIG themselves hopped on that bandwagon.

Yes.  Olympic arms among others.  This is my point.

Thomspon "Tommy Guns" have been converted. I don't have a link anymore to the one I had seen.

Hk made a 10mm version of the MP5

I myself contemplated looking into the M1 Carbine when an Auto Ordinence came up at the local Cabelas for a very low price. Glad I backed out, was told later the gun was returned defective, and their gunsmith couldn't repair it.

Yes the Auto Ordnance Thomson was sold as 10mm, as was the HK MP-5 10mm.
