Are there any downsides to using the Redding dies on a Dillon XL650? I just got my 650 in last week and was setting it up tonight. After using the micrometer seating and crimping dies from Redding I guess I am just a little spoiled and trying to get the Dillon dies setup properly got me a little frustrated... Also on my bullets (Hornady HAPs & XTPs) I didn't feel the Dillon die fit the bullet profile very well in either cup.
That is exactly what I use on my 650, I finally got dialed in and the work flawlessly
My Redding 9mm micrometer seating die didn't like 147gr xtp bullets. But seemed to work just fine with 115gr hap.
One thing to consider is the thickness of the 650 shell plate vs. the thickness of the standard shell holders as it pertains to sizing brass especially bottleneck types. It may be possible to over size and set the shoulders back too much... ::)
I use Redding comp pro 10mm dies been very satisfied . Also have a set of Redding 223 national match on a Dillon 550 press using whidden tool heads.
