Title: Fusion 10 mm Commander - UPDATED with pics
Post by: BCDWYO on April 17 2015 04:27:28 PM MDT
I've had bad luck with two different DW Bobtail Commanders in 10mm.  Both have consistently had problems feeding.  I've tried different springs, various ammo, and even took the most recent one in to the local CZ armorer and had them work on it.  Still fails to feed at least one round per mag.  I've never had any such problems with several full-sized 10mm 1911s.  And all my Dan Wessons in 45acp work great!

I really like the Commander length for carry, but can't carry a gun that isn't reliable.   I'm thinking about a custom Commander from Fusion.  Anyone have any experience with Fusion in this platform?  Any other suggestions for a reliable 10mm Commander?

My ria is reliable but much cheaper than your suggestions.  I wanted the dan Wesson but I figured I wouldn't want to beat it up carrying it.

Do you have any input from Bob Serva, at Fusion, about your concerns...  To see what tweaks, modifications, or, changes, have been made to the 10mm Fusion Commander design, since, the Serva era at Dan Wesson?  Otherwise, it would seem the Fusion Commander could be more of the same problems you have been experiencing with the Dan Wessons.

Nope, I went the other direction, and got their 6" longslide instead (Target pistol, not for carry) All I can say is it works flawlessly. Fit is oh so tight. I think it saw one third party magazine it didn't like, and that's about it.

I actually did talk to Bob, and he satisfied me that he can build one that will work, so I put down my deposit and will wait anxiously for the build!  I should be able to report back in about 4 months!

Bob is pretty darned good at answering emails and questions, and he must get thousands.

Yes, Bob is very good about answering questions. Sometimes I am amazed at how prompt he can be, especially since he really is the only person answering everything.

I have had him build me three different guns over the years.

BCDWYO, please don't take this wrong, but I would take the 4 month build time Bob gives you with a grain of salt. He missed every projected completion date on all three of my builds, by at least double and in one instance, quoted 4 months and took over 15 months.

Maybe with the new facility here in Florida, deliveries will get better.

Just to update this old thread...I received my Fusion Commander, and so far I'm really happy with it!  Just over 4 months on the delivery so not bad.  I've just been to the range with it once but it looks like its gonna be a good shooter!  Here's a couple of pics sent to me by Fusion:
