This article is directed mainly at new gun owners but you might still find it interesting. As always, I'd love to hear any criticism you care to offer.
QuoteOne of the more overlooked pistols on the market today is the Tanfoglio Witness imported by European American Arms. It has long been trusted by competitors in the various action pistol disciplines, especially IPSC, and it is based on the proven CZ-75 design. The Witness is available in a variety of calibers from .22lr through 10mm, in steel and polymer frames, several finishes, and with a selection of frame size and slide and barrel lengths. This article will focus particularly on the polymer frame standard model Witness in 10mm.
Options in current production 10mm handguns are sparse. Apart from the Witness, the only other options in current production are the Glock 20 and 29 as well as various 1911s that come in and out of production with the seasons. One of the most attractive features of the Witness is its price. The standard model polymer frame can be had for under $450, brand new.
The rest is here, if you're interested. (http://www.homedefensegun.net/tanfoglio-witness/)
Good article. Every time I read about a witness I wonder why I don't carry mine more.
I have considered the EAA Witness on several occasions, I learned a lot about the upper end models and also from Intercoolers testing with them. Three things pushed back my purchase of the EAA Witness line, while studying them in the wonder finish, I saw the cracked frames and serious surface anomalies that steered me away and purchased my first Glock the G-29 (prior to the SF). Meanwhile I had the opportunity to purchase the missing link in my S&W10xx collection the S&W1046 5" of which only 151 were made :D. Then all the talk of the VLTOR Bren Ten Vice Model remake had my hopes and dreams of ownership peaked to the point of a down payment at the local BPS, (this tied up my funds for one year only to be disappointed) :-[. Well after I recovered my money with BPS, a "REAL Bren Ten Standard Model" showed its face locally, although it was a little more than the mentioned remake, this was the real deal. ;D Then as I accumulated more funds a beautiful G-20SF with ammo and accessories shows up locally at a price point I could not resist... ??? Now we are a family of ten 10mm guns...Did I ever mention the 10mm guns were addictive! :o Oh there were a couple of other impulse deals here and there just because... :P
Now, an new grass cutting season is starting and I might be able to earn enough this season to consider the purchase of yet another gun chambered in my favorite caliber/cartridge... ::) EAA, some day soon! I promise!
The match is the best build for the money. Beautiful gun. Shoots almost as well as my ed brown. The glock 40 will be here soon too and then there's the new sigs. Depends on what you're feeling. Nice to have variety.
I shoot mine the most of any I own. It's pretty safe to say I really like them, or I wouldn't have bought so many :o
Even though the one I have is a low end model (999200), I love it . I have 3 other hand guns 2-45s , and a 9 mm , and I shoot the 10mm witness the most .
The only problem I have had with my Witness so far , is when I go to the range . It puts all my brass in low earth orbit .

Have you cut down your ejector yet? They use the same length for all the calibers and I documented a test cutting it back. It helps with that!

No I didn't , do you have a link on how to go about that ? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated .
Just don't cut if you swap top ends to other calibers. If swapping to 40 barrel, test that also.
I have all of mine cut back the same including 9mm. No issues with any of them.
I had my extractor stretched up in height just a bit. I had to have this done because of the 9 mm ejections.
Did cutting it back help cases go backwards instead of frontwards.
Mine basically go to the right. Not back or forward.
Intercooler , Do you have any information describing how to do this . Pics would be a great help as well .
I'm sure that I am not the only one that would like to know more about cutting down the ejector .
It looks like the board erased my pictures after a period of time. In here you will find one that was .362" and I cut all mine to .300" ;D

I don't reload yet so I always grin a little when I hear someone bitching about wild brass a few stalls down 8)
I regulate the ejection with the recoil spring.
too heavy and brass goes forward.
too light an brass goes behind me
just right and the brass drops on the bench
This is a Witness elite.
Rich
You shoot Underwood and it dribbles out on the bench? What's that setup?

34 feet straight up :)) :)) :))

Intercoller , Thank you very much for the link on your testing . You have been very helpful . Once I get over the fear of cutting down the ejector , I'm going to give it a try .
You can go a little at a time like I did on my first one. After seeing the results of that one, I just cut them all the same. Somewhere between .300" and .375" will be fine too.

That's been pretty frustrating for me too. I can't believe I missed that. I'll have to try it.
Did you do a video? Link to the specifics? I don't want to cut too much. I see the link. Thank you, sir.

No video, but the information is in this link.
Well, that was fast. Thank you much. Your contribution to the 10mm and Witness community has been monumental.
BTW, I think I'll be testing the Underwood loaded Lehigh controlled fracturing round this weekend. Video should be up sometime next week.
Great news! I will have some more out to you soon... for the back-log ;D
