Title: Powders for 10 mm powder coated cast 200 grain bullets
Post by: bigarm on March 31 2015 10:28:37 AM MDT
I am going to be working up a load for just fun, plinking and maybe competition for my new Delta Elite.  These do not have to be really hot loads.  Only need a power factor of 165 for major, so anything above about 850 fps should do it.  I have the following powders available:  CFE Pistol, W231, Bullseye, Power Pistol and True Blue.  Which ones do you think I should try first?

Bullseye and W231 are really fast for heavy 10mm, but older recipes indicate 5 grains of either should give you around 900 fps.  This would be a very economical load, but watch carefully as a double charge would NOT overflow the case.

A starting load of 7 grains of Power Pistol would deliver about 950 fps.  Perhaps not as economical as the faster powders, it does have a safety benefit in that a double charge would definitely overflow the case.

I can't find any published data on true blue for 10mm.  Mike McNett did some workups here:  http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179345
