WOW! :o
Where do I start. At several places in the book I actually noticed my mouth open in awe of what I was reading. This should probably be required reading for all Americans. To sum up:
- Before I read the book I was puzzled why a SEAL made a decision to go public and write this - thought he was a sell-out for the money. NOW, I realize the truth and he wanted everyone to know how brave his platoon members and good friends were and how they died fighting, PROUDLY, for our country. WOW. Thank you guys.
- It restored my faith that there are "good" Muslims in the world as well as "bad" - ISIS, al Quaeda, etc. The good ones saved his life. Thank you.
- How truly "fateful" certain decisions can be, like the one they made to let the otherwise innocent goat herders go because "SEALS aren't murderers. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Tough call they made. Probably would have done the same
- How proud I am of ALL of our armed forces - in particular Marcus Luttrell and Seal Team 10 and his three brave friends. Thank you for your sacrifice, courage and service to our great country
- This country, despite the attempts of current politicians to trample our heritage in the ground, will survive you bastards (politicians of both parties) and STILL be great.
God Bless America. If you haven't, please read this book.
Thanks guys,
Pat
I recently read the book also. I picked up the same things you did.
God Bless America.
Follow it up with American Sniper. I enjoyed them both.
I read it right after it came out, same with american sniper. Need to reread both.
I didnt care for the movie really but american sniper did Chris Kyle justice i think.
With american sniper, both Clint Eastwood who directed and Bradley Cooper who played Kyle spent a lot of time making sure they were telling the story correctly and that he was accurately portrayed. It is a very good movie, i have seen it 4 times so far. Eastwood was right there literally inches from Bradley in virtually every scene.. you can almost feel the intensity and energy between them. There are a bunch of really good interviews with Bradley on this.

I've also read both, and felt better about our nation's future. The constant bombardment of the 'negative' from our media seldom mentions anything positive about the many serving abroad. Reading these taught me more about what they've had to face and do, than ten or more years of 'news reporting'. I'm being sarcastic in using the term news reporting........

its not news reporting anymore.. its selective liberal broadcast negativism
It never was news. News is really infotainment, and was created in concert with daily circulation to have content to justify daily production for the purpose of selling advertising space.
I didn't care much for how Chris Kyle was portrayed in American Sniper. I never met the man. His tales of revelry and mischief here in the states did not impress me.
It may not be realistic, but I like my heroes very cut and dried. Chris Kyle came off to me as a bully who happened to be a SEAL.
