Title: addon to g29 or get a g20 for hunt and maybe competition.
Post by: 48conkli on March 11 2015 04:50:15 PM MDT
I currently own a gen 4 glock 29. I have recently gotten into handgun hunting and maybe competition. Should I buy a new 6 inch barrel  and beefer recoil spring. Or should i let the g29 be a carry gun, and buy a used gen 3 glock 20 and do the same mods to that.

that was option C, ;D Do you think cost would be better for 40 mos. Also from reloading stand point, would it be better or after market barrel for hot loads or leave stock.

Long Slide.

Either the G40 (wait) or build a Lone Wolf G20SF Long Slide as I did. Fun and rewarding. Trying to use a G29 for hunting could be challenging. Mainly sight radius would hold me back from decent distance shots, unless you are an excellent shot.

That is a beautiful gun!. I almost like the look of that more than the 40 mos. but the 40 slide will have the cut for optics. So that might be a caveat right there. By the time a built a longslide glock 20, i could probably have a better equipped stock glock 40.

Indeed. But I  already Owned the long barrel (and other parts) then bought the long slide  (and got a free 6 " 9x25 barrel ) all before I even knew Glock was coming out with the G40. Well at least I have the short slide and barrels too.

Lone wolf has a deal now where you buy the slide and you get the barrel free... ive been tempted to do that a few times on my gen 3 20. But money isnt there right now.

That's how I got the 9x25 Dillon barrel. Can't beat free. I chose that one because I have the others already.

I built this as my Hunter before the 40 was released - G20sf Gen3 6.6" LW #20lb RSA with 3.5 Ghost. I have no idea what the name of the aimpoint bracket is - I found it at a gun show for $25 it works great - and I can see the sights underneath it perfectly and don't have to remove it to change barrels as to the 40 I was all gunho  now I'm not so sure I.ll wait and see on the price since I don't collect guns - each has a specific use.

If the 40 is priced in my range I could Revert my 20sf back to a back up to M-T 10mm carbine( it uses a G20sf Gen 3 lower )
