Title: Added a new 60gr-105gr sheet
Post by: Intercooler on March 08 2015 09:33:53 AM MDT
Now that we are working the super lightweights. Does everyone like the discontinued sheet the way it is, or would anyone rather that data go back into the weight sheets with (discontinued) next to the MFG? I'm trying to figure out what to do with the recent powder shuffle data this morning, such as the new Lovex powder being found currently in Underwoods loads. I don't want to lose the old stuff and want to keep what is now being used.

The sheet is great the way it is. Thanks for all your work on it.

What I started doing is only putting discontinued stuff (like not made anymore) on the "discontinued" tab and plugging in the new loads for the same current ammo offerings on their specific weight. This way, someone looking to find a different way to load that weight with the powder they may have on-hand can find it easier.

What I have seen is people looking at the sheet were studying the loading data vs the yield.  So if the old / changed up / discontinued stuff and new are next to each other it makes for easier research when they are comparing notes.

I received a PM yesterday about the Pull-Downs if I had them in a Spreadsheet, Not as of yet, all are in word documents.  I have considered doing a spreadsheet, but there would need to be sections for special notations.
I try to follow a guideline to gather all the info, but as new stuff comes out I try to make special notations.  Example would be the Lehigh Defense Xtreme Penetrator Bullets in the UW and the Black Belts in the Remingtons.

I think the way the sheet is laid out currently is great; it's clear and simple and pretty straightforward. The "discontinued" tab seems to be the best place to put the loads that are no longer currently in regular production, if they're truly out of production... In that case I recommend notating on the "current production" sheet that the formula/loading changed as of whatever the approximate date is as that info isn't easily gotten without trolling through the site for the load in question.

But if you want to keep them both on the same sheet, with the "old" with the "new" on the same tab, it could make for easier comparison (versus switching from one tab to the next or having two open at a time) although it might promote more clutter on some of the lengthier sheets (particularly the 170gr-180gr sheet).
