Well I just got word that my Dan Wesson razorback 10 will be in next week. In preparation for it. I need some advice for the gun. I plan doing a trigger job and new springs. I plan on hunting with this gun and want nuclear loads. I have been reading some on mainspring poundage and recoil spring. I want to shot hot stuff mostly and hopefully not destroy the gun. What are some thing I will need to do or look for, so I can make a list and bring it to the gunsmith. thanks. I too have been bitten my the 10mm bug.
Have one of the new ones, you will not need to do a trigger job or change springs.
I run Federal Hunting Trophy Bonds out of it no problem. Best heavy load out there in my opinion.
When I first got it, it galled and I had to send it back and they fixed it real well. I then sent it back for a .40 conversion and that has also has been very good.
One last thing, when breaking it in and keeping it wet, you may get some failures to lock back after the last round. That will work itself out as the gun breaks in and you lose less oil.
Once its broken in, you will love it.
A spring and flat bottom block will help. If you shoot enough you will probably peen your slide catch, break your slide release and your feed ramp will start to show wear. This is just my own experience with mine before selling it.
BTW... If it's brand new field strip it first. Work the slide and frame with oil or grease with nothing in place. Do this for like 500 cycles and then assemble. I about threw mine down range my first visit with it locking up.
So they are kinda tight. Lol. What flat bottom block...so 22 lb recoil spring and 25 mainspring from what I have read elsewhere is a good start?
I didn't change my hammer spring. The block I purchased from EGW and I had a 20lb recoil in mine if I remember correctly.

I am always amazed when I see very experienced shooters at my range put the gun into battery by releasing the slide stop instead of simply pulling the slide back to it's full travel and releasing. I let an instructor try my Brown and cringed when he released my slide that way. Just think of the wear on the edge of the notch when released under the tension of the recoil spring.

Well I am guilty of this, and I will stop.
I'm all about the slide release.
I first ran mine at a tactical shooting class - two factory mags, one Wilson mag. Lubed it will and went to work: 2 FTFs in about 300 rounds of hard running. Ran everything from soft factory loads to Double Tap through it, only thing it wouldn't feed was some "mystery" 10mm (reloads) given to my by a friend. I have not changed any springs, but I have tried different grips. I keep going back to the originals.
It ran great til the rear sight loosened up at another class I was helping with. I was running a dueling tree against a friend and kept missing horribly (although I hit the pole of the dueling tree with one Double Tap load and it flipped all the swingers over to the other side - for one brief second I'd won with a single shot!). I finally realized that my rear sight was sliding out of the notch. A buddy planted a spare rear sight in it, and I was good to go.
That's been the only problem. I'm going to send it in for night sights. Then it will be back to shooting. I'll be up around 1000 rounds soon.
I don't believe in "safe queens," and my Razorback goes hiking with me, shoots tactical classes, and plinks. I love it!
By the way - I don't have a preference for slide stop or slingshot.
