Title: Steal of a deal on a NIB 10mm
Post by: Intercooler on June 17 2012 07:34:31 AM MDT
Same place I bought mine two years ago for $509. Given I see them for sale $600+ this is a steal for $520!

I payed 569.00 from Buds.Yeah they are rising in price.I mentioned my dislike for the plastic grips.Actually after holding my other Witness with the thicker rubber grips, the plastic ones kind of slim the hold more and conform to the Match design.Im likeing it.

I know others disagree but I think the have ruined this gun with the rail.  I don't like.it and I don't see the purpose on what is a target gun.

ah well guess i am an old curmudgeon.

that is a good price.  anyone that wants one should jump on it.

I know the EAA is an option for owning a 10MM, but I must say, because of the mixed reviews, and complaints about customer service issues, have stayed away. $500+ is $500+, and if the rate is 50% running properly, and the chances of being fixed are dismal at best, that's not where I want to put my hard earned money. Just my thoughts.

I hear you alwaysshootin.  I would add though that the Elite guns are a different class of weapons than the standard witness line.  You rarely hear of an Elite Match or Stock having any debilitating issues at all.

I would not buy another standard Witness with the new slide design, but the Elite series carry the old "square" slide are made in Italy, not imported by Tanfoglio from the eastern rim, and are a great value.

I just prefer the positive aspects a firearm has to offer. $500+ is still more than I'm willing to shell out for even a perhaps, maybe. My next 10MM purchase is going to be the Bond Arms. Unless of course either M&P, or XD come out with a 10. I'd feel very comfortable with either of those purchases. Will admit though, if positive feedback, on any particular EAA, becomes prevalent,  probably will have to have one of those also!

My Match and Hunter are two of my best.

I searched for a Hunter for two years and finally gave up.

Among the many problems EAA has, IMHO is lack of availability.  I had to search for some time for my Witness Elite Match.  I stumbled into my full size in a local shop, and just bought it.

I do like the guns in the Elite series though.

I know I'm a little late to the party here, but this info is good to know. I was thinking of getting a standard. Thank you.

My new Elite Match runs like a champ. My base Compact when purchased was not. However,i wrote to EAA that as a prior owner of a Witness in the 90's that functioned 100%,i know that this gun can work and that i would not object to having the older slide replaced over the new one.It didn't hurt that i used my agency letter head as well.Recieved gun with older slide in (Black) a new and better barrel, and ambo safety.I had to get stronger mag springs to assist in feed issue.Ill give EAA credit on this, they made it better. But i guess it boils down to"You Get What you Pay For".

My full-size had some issues in the first 300 rounds.  Among the changes were increased recoil spring strength (22 lb) and +10% magazine springs.

Since that point the gun has been fully reliable except in the hands of new shooters.  I attribute that to limp wristing, and don't blame the gun.

I can't imagine the challenge of getting one of the small Witness guns in 10mm to run reliably.

Top right in this picture.

I will try to get some better pics next time I am at the range with it.  I read somewhere today that natural lighting at the range works best for showing off handguns ;D

I was again thinking about getting a Witness Elite Stock to replace my full-size.  Same basic gun/features, just with the Elite series goodness in the fit.

I really have to say the Elite on up Witness guns are still in my opinion about the best value in a metal 10 you can get. Unless another 10 makes it to market the only other one on my screen is a Limited.

I bought my g20c from a gander mountain for $350. It was a trade in and the previous owner said he never shot it. According the the store employee, regardless it was immaculate and functions flawlessly even after 600+ rounds

Sqlbullet,

The Compact is almost there. There are times all 12 fire and not.I think if the mags were the newer ones, black follower Mec Gar,this would be a moot issue.Im hopeing for new compact mags for the 10mm besides red follower. It's accurate as all and can handle factory rnds,STHP,hornandy etc.Darn mags stink IMO.I sent EAA an email on newer mags for this compact.I even had offers from folks who shot it and handled,im a keepin.

Have you tried the owner of Elite Ammunition? He Smith's too and is a big EAA guy having all kinds of weird setups. He offered to help with my old one, so maybe you could ship it to him and see if he sorts it out.

He has a compact and it runs Nukes!

I might have to give him a try.Running nukes, man that must be a handful.Ill keep her med to low end.EAA did a good job upgrading etc from that new slide issue, barrel.I got the older fixed sights, gun is accurate.

What does the new rod do for operation? Henning has good stuff!
Title: Re: Steal of a deal on a NIB 10mm
Post by: pacapcop on June 23 2012 09:16:08 PM MDT
Well.First impression i got from the Henning Rod as opposed to the factory rod was a notable differance in how smooth, almost silk like the slide worked. My obvious intrest was the design by Henning to reduce internal damage from the factory rod hitting against metal in repeated cycling.Mind you this was based on his own firearm being damaged, and im sure the time i can dedicate to shooting to the pros is laughable. My other decision was my conversation with owner/operator himself and my intrest in what i wanted to shoot and what im shooting with.I took his advise with the rod, and with a 10mm as opposed to a .40 the pounding is obvious. Also to my knowledge, their is know one i know specializing in Tanfoglio parts outside Henning. The factory rod,by sight and touch is obviously inferior to Hennings.Well worth the $ spent. It will need some extra muscle due to the increased extention of metal, but once spring is used alot,it will ease up.But i guess the real test is time.It is IMHO,no diff than putting a steel guide rod in a Glock vs the factory except the steel rod in a Glock is just smoother running.the Henning is more for damage control and smoother.

Gotcha! Well I you probably cost me $40 then, since I will probably spring for one  ;)

Won't fit the Hunter though. That is a different design totally.

Glock  :o

The Limited is nice. Right now on Broker is one of the nicest 610's NIB that I have ever seen. It's making me want to find ways to sell something to get it!

I want the 610 just so I can find my brass!!

I too have the witness in wonder finish and love it except for the fact that it toss's the brass about 25 ft or so.

Now if a semi-auto manufacturer would step forward and gear up a platform toward full-house 10mm loads, that would be sweet.
