Title: eaa p carry first range day
Post by: durdy1 on February 06 2015 05:53:37 PM MST
Just got my p carry to the range. I put a sprinco recoil rod in and bought the wolf calibration spring kit.  I just went to the 22 lb wolff.  Started out with Remington 180 gr plinking round.  Well first double action trigger sucks... plain and simple.  single action descent. Held about a 4in group at about 15 yds.  Groups were about 3-4 inches low.  I had a couple ftf, almost like the slide lock stopped the slide.  Pull the slide back and let go and all is good.  Then I went to my nuclear loads.  155 gr rainier with 12 gr of bluedot.  This thing barks.  About the same size group with being 3 inches low.  Still couple ftf.  Sitting here on the couch,  my shoulder hurts alittle.  About 200 rounds through the gun new gun.  I tried to put a +5% mag spring in, but I will have some tweaking to do on it, as the springs aren't direct replacement. I have lots of 155 gr is the only reason I was shooting those.  I Plan on going to 180 or 200 gr.  It was 30 degrees out.  Hopefully my sights will come up and groups tighten up.  I might strip the gun down and start polishing everything to smooth up the trigger.

Do you have a picture of it and the Sprinco setup. I think I personally would run a cut Henning cone and 20lb Wolff spring. Did Sprinco not include a spring with the rod? That setup can be a little tricky with not running correctly. Is this the 14 round version with the K10 mags? If it is, you shouldn't need any spring change.
I wish I had one to play around with. I know others have made the compact versions run like tops!

The sprinco was just guide rod with its internal spring no recoil spring.  Yes it's the 14 rnd mag with blk fowler.  I don't think I was limp wristing.  I just ran the 22 lb spring because of my stupid hot loads.. I will try to get a picture tonight when I get home.  I think another 200 rnds I would consider it broke in.

I think the better setup is a 20lb spring with Hennings Cone rod. It will eliminate stuff the Sprinco can create.

What does sprinco create?   Will I notice a difference if I put the stock guide rod in and wolf 22 lb spring? Does the sprinco almost make it short stroke if you will?  I know I have a lot to learn on this set up.

I tried the Sprinco and didn't care for it. It also doesn't have the Cone fit end.

If he has that kit in 3.8" it's a great deal. You would just need to grind the rod back to the correct length.

Well I put stock guide rod in. And I will run some rounds with wolff 18,20, and 22 springs in it...Gona send back sprinco.  Order a henning kit.  I just loaded some bayou bullet 180 gr with 11 gr of bluedot.  Will see how that goes.
